I've seen bigger shops. Or even bigger shops with more tools and equipment in them. I don't know if that makes them any nicer though. I imagine the people that own those shops think they're nicer. Or they wouldn't have went through all of the bother.

Wow, I was already very impressed by this undertaking, all the years of preparation and forethought, but then when he said he uses Sketchup for designing the furniture, that blew away the stereotypes I had in my mind about masters of crafts who, for so many years, have used physical tools so skillfully with their hands; I can barely use 3D modeling software (even that is an exaggeration), and he just said it like it is no big deal at all, as though it's actually just another tool like his physical tools. Utter and complete respect!

Well let me first by saying this was wonderful video. Second James I am sure we could only wish to have achieved what you have in our lives. you have given me new hope for my retirement sir. Such a nice man, I do love your shop and the way you designed it. The ceiling fan was a great idea, same with the dust collection. I also agree with you on the tubing I do not want that either I like the fact pull out the hose hook up and put it back. I mean most times we only operate one machine at time. We might go from one to another but hooking up a hose is not that hard.. Thank you James for taking us through your workshop. I will say Wood and Shop has done some real nice work in showing folks shops off. All the best sir.. Look forward to you next video. I would love to see some more of you work as well.

Love your shop. Idea about dust collector system to keep from putting pipes overhead, I went to this engneers house he'd retired but he said when he had his house built it was with putting a shop in the basement from the start, he can't have out buildings where he lives so he had the contractor prep his dust collection system for him by laying his main trunk pipe under the cement floor He ran a 6" pvc thick wall pipe and added taps at loly poles or beam supports. He knew how he was going to set it up. becuse of his day job he also did metal working so he had both a wood shop and metal working shop. and tons of storage room.

Those silica packets in the drawers do help somewhat. To renew them place them on a flat baking tray and put them in an oven at 200° for 2-3 hours. After removing from the oven (handle with caution. They will burn you) place them back into the drawers immediately. How long they will keep adsorbing moisture depends on the humidity in your shop.
@rumahbenavari51576 жыл бұрын
What a lovely place for you to create, many blessings .

Great shop. You can prevent tools from rusting in the drawers by placing a small container of Vicks Vapor Rub in the drawer. Drill several small holes in the lid to allow the fumes to escape into the drawer.
@JF-fx2qv6 жыл бұрын
That's a new one. Interesting. Do you know how or why it works? Thanks for sharing.
@robstephens6 жыл бұрын
I believe it's the fumes from the camphor. You can also purchase camphor blocks online. The Vicks and the camphor blocks slowly evaporate and have to be replaced ever few years.
