this looks like a project I have some chance of doing, except for the resawing, the groove planing and the dovetails. Lucky for me I have a fireplace that lets me burn my really serious mistakes!

Quite frankly every time you say “just have fun with it” something way deep inside me says, “yet another thing I haven’t done and must learn” both with excitement and a bit of apprehension. Thanks for keeping things … … inspirational

A very basic build but necessary for the beginner and a great review for the more experienced. It works for any scale from the small curio shelf/cabinet done here to massive wall cabinets. Done here with hand tools but the same principles for the power tool guy like me. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

There I was thinking "stopped dadoes would be perfect"..... And then you made STOPPED DADOES! ! !..... .You're Welcome .... :D A GREAT project that in any sort of wood can be a great gift for the upcoming gift giving Season too. I know you didn't mention it that way. But I bet that a few folks get inspired and do a version of their own list of gift getters. I've just got started with my own Christmas gift making. But due to traveling I can't do anything as big as the curio box. It will be in my mind for next year though....

Maybe a good video idea would be of you actually picking the lumber or furniture from where you found it. Just to show the conditions of the furniture and what to look for
@WoodByWrightHowTo
@WoodByWrightHowTo Жыл бұрын
I've got a couple videos showing that. It wouldn't make sense to start several videos with the same furniture breakdown though. I got this desk probably 6 years ago and I've been slowly working through it over that time. Though most of the projects come from leftover lumber from larger projects that I purchase from local sawyers.

Great build. Love hearing your commentary of why you chose one method over another & what you find easier/best. Boiled linseed oil as per normal. Nice enhancement. I did read it's not recommended for exterior oak but no-one could give a reason why not! Interested in your view?
@WoodByWrightHowTo

For exterior work it can wash out quickly and needs to be re applied a couple times a year.
