I am Austrian, 12 years young back then ... I was a SUPER LEEDS UNITED FAN! Loved their game - and notice - it was 1975 - sooo different to "know" or "watch" a foreign soccer club ... and I love all the super players ... in that time LEEDS UNITED just had only NATIONAL TEAM PLAYERS in the team! England - Wales - Scotland - Northern Ireland - Ireland - just heroes in the team! And remember or let you tell you (younger readers :-) ) WE HAD THAT SUPER-SEMIFINAL: REAL MADRID - BAYERN MÜNCHEN ... FC BARCELONA - LEEDS UNITED .... Bayern went over Real Madrid - Leeds went over Barcelona ... LEEDS UNITED was the super-big favourite for the final in Paris vs Bayern ... LEEDS dominated the whole match ... Bayern came 2-times in front of the LEEDS goalkeeper ... and scored 2 goals ... well ... then the Leeds fans or "fans" droped down to the field their plastic seats ... and MY SUPER CLUB WAS BANNED FROM INTERNATIONAL GAMES for years ... all the stars left LEEDS UNITED of course ... A SUPER TIME OF EUROPEAN FOOTBALL ... Ajax ... Bayern ... Leeds ... Barcelona .... Real ... I WILL ALWYS REMEMBER MY STARS OF FOOTBAL IN THESE 1970s ... ♥

Magic?? The defenders stupidly used to go all way backwards to defend against long high balls shot from midfield, instead of establishing an offside line. And terrible passing precision, the pitch was not so bad and the ball was already made out of polymers, but the players were playing as if they were in a horse corral and as the ball were a coconut.

My Dad supported Leeds, I supported Burnley at age 12, we would go to Leeds one week, Burnley the next. Kids would stand right on the wall literally about 6 feet from the touchline, Ralph Coates and Steve Kindon flying down the wing almost within touching distance. Burnley had a great team tehn fantastic attacking football. Moved to London when I was 18 and started supporting West Ham, Moore, Hurst, Billy Bonds, more great players. We would stand on the North Bank crammed in, the crowd swaying, moving up and down when there was a shot or a save, singing Bubbles, the adrenaline was incredible. They killed the game for me when it went all seating, just not the same now.

The rumours are very strong they were cheated in the Final. Put it this way, a German near Lorimar was impressed by his brilliant goal, and felt Leeds were robbed when it got disallowed. Similiar happened in Athens 2 years before in the CWC Final. Greek crowd were angry when Milan tried a lap of "honour". At least Leeds have 2 Fairs Cups to their credit.

Pretty idiotic, really. Put Leeds under more pressure than they already were. It's one thing to launch one during an unimportant league game on a rainy Tuesday night in Stoke, but when you're fighting for your life in a 'Big Cup' semifinal in the Nou Camp against Cryuff and Neeskens, you need all the help - and luck - you can get. Certainly don't need to be down a man. Plus, he missed the final. Not a smart move...

That Barca team was not that good. they were 2nd from bottom when Cruyff went there. Many Spanish footballers were skilful but inferiority complex underachievers. Cruyff's glory days were with Ajax, when he and they, were untouchable. After the 74 world cup, he was still a brilliant player but didn't dominate world football as he had done. Lorimer said "Cheating is the only way to describe what went on at the Parc de Princes 40 years ago. Sorry if that offends anyone but it’s how we felt. When it comes to apportioning blame, you’ve got to point the finger at the referee first and foremost. Great player though he was, Beckenbauer was well known for getting in the ears of referees. It’s what he did. I’d seen it when he played for Bayern and I’d seen it when he played for Germany. I’m still convinced that he was responsible for persuading the officials to disallow my goal in the second half. Uli Hoeness, their forward, was interviewed on TV and asked about 1975. In his own words, he said that the result was a travesty. The better team lost and they lost for no other reason than the performance of the referee. I can’t disagree.”

Notice how few times the ball is passed backwards, or how the players do not dive and feign injury. This is how football was meant to be played, not the boring technical shit we have to watch today.

Yes, there ought to be rules: 1. the ball can only be passed forwards, and 2. no player should be able to control/hit/pass a standard ball in any controlled way. You will be happy.

I remember going to Turf Moor with Leeds in the 70s...We were in the Longside and the Leeds fan in front of us got hit by a dart...!! Fighting all the way to and from the ground and again in Blackpool after the game with Newcastle Fans... Great days.. I was in paris too for the final in 1975, a spotty 17 year old.. we hitch hiked to paris and we slept on gare Du Nord station... and on the Monday morning after England played Scotland at wembley on the previous Saturday ( 1-5...!!!), all the Scots came over to support Leeds, it was scary hearing them coming down the platform with the bagpipes playing and them singing

Im sure the away goal rule was in place for European Cup games, so Leeds won 1-0 at home and it was 1-1 away , that meant Leeds won 2-1 on aggregate , even if Barcelona scored again making it 2-1 to them on the night Leeds 1-0 makes the score 2-2, but Leeds scored an away goal so they would have went through anyways, why the commentator was going on about Barcelona scoring 1 more to take it to extra time I dont know.

I don't want to sound racist, but the Latins are world champions at provoking when they realise they can't win a game fairly. The problem is, we always fall for it. And that's what McQueen did. Same with Beckham. Simeone admitted later trying to get Beckham sent off by over-reacting to the kick and then, along with other members of his team, urging the referee to send him off. Then the wink from Ronaldo as Rooney got (rightly) sent off. The "best" ones were Neymar alias "Rawhide" in 2018 (rolling, rolling, rolling )and Rivaldo in 2002 (getting the ball passed to him for a corner, hits him on the shins, falls over holding his head). The Italians also got Zidane sent off by disgusting provokation.

And now the Brits have followed suit. The things that Britain was renowned for, is no longer. Hard working. Resilient. Honest. Strong backbone. Stoic. Now we are weak, lazy, spineless, cheating, spoilt and wanting the glory without the work or responsibility. Wonder what the cause is? 🤔🤔

Shocked to see someone sent off in the seventies for something as piddling as a punch, and not that good a one it has to be said.Normally,it took at least at stabbing before the ref thought about getting a card out. Messi is the best player I've ever seen, but it's hard to believe that he wouldn't have spent a lot of time lying face down in the mud after a disgusting knee high tackle or six,and consequently of course he would have suffered a lot more injuries.
