Wooden Christmas Door Tags / DIY Tutorial / 12 Days of Christmas Project 2

This video show you step by step how to make these reversible wooden door tags. I am using these for Thanksgiving and Christmas! You can use them for any holiday.
Materials used in this video were:
1/4" Smooth Plywood or luan board (2 pcs 18" x 5.5")
Waverly Chalk Paints in "Ink" and "Silver Lining"
Gliden White Flat Paint
Liquitex paint in "burgundy"
Jute Cord
Buffalo Check Ribbon (9")
I also used Cricut Maker to cut the stencils. I used brown contact paper for the stencil material and also some adhesive vinyl. Duck brand clear peel and stick is great transfer tape!

Love your videos - I too use the shelving paper for stencilling and the clear for transfer tape. I reuse my clear tape several times and it works great

When you were cutting, I liked the clamps you have. Are these pretty common to find? I am almost ready to start doing these and a bunch of other ideas. I am trying to get products cheap but highly recommended. Love these tutorials. You do a very good job of explaining steps.

The red ones are from Harbor Freight, they were pretty cheap. They are fine for lightweight work like for holding the tags, but not great if you are applying a lot of pressure. I actually ended up breaking both of these on some plywood. But like I said good for light work. The best for heavy duty are QuickGrips or Dewalt but they are pricier. Thank you for the comment!

Beautiful. Silly question: why stencil on letters when you can just stick the vynil letters? Just wondering, and trying to understand the difference. Thanks!

Thank you! I get that question several times! It all depends on preference. Sometimes I like to stencil to make the letters a little less defined and more rustic, and sometimes I may not have a specific color of vinyl on hand and will stencil. It all depends what look you want or what your client wants as well. And stenciling leaves less of a ridge where the letters are if you want your project completely smooth, but vinyl letters are cleaner. PLacing vinyl is a lot easier!

I actually used double sided tape and it lasted for a while but I think I will try some glue dots to see if they last longer. Thank you!

Thank you so much!! I can’t remember if I sealed these in the video but yes I would definitely seal, especially since they are outside... I usually use a clear matte acrylic sealer.
