WOW Matthias, your dad was one hell of a craftsmen! When you get older, you will be too, just like your dad. Seriously, thanks for sharing these cabin videos, they are some of my favorite for some reason. I guess because it shows what one can achieve with hard work. I lost my dad in 2012 and I miss him dearly.

My father passed away a few years ago and I find that it's things like these that bring a smile to my face. Here your father is, still opening and closing doors with his beautiful design. Tangible proof that his mind is still having an effect on the world.

Your father was brilliant. Must have been great to grow up with him. My grandfather was a carpenter and he built many homes that we can see to this day.

I'm truly envious. You have inherited a lot of your dad's ingenuity and you have advanced it forward. My uncle was like your dad as he built cabins up in Iron Mountain Michigan off of a river. He was a hunter/fisherman guide and sold Christmas trees in Chicago. Great job!

This is insane, you and your dad are true master woodworkers! I’ve been subscribed for quite a few years but haven’t run into this video and I say hands down you two are the most amazing builders I’ve ever seen. Minimal tooling and you can literally build anything you want in the shop. I’m at a loss of words to describe how blown away I am of the talent you two have!

myrna was a Carpenter for 40 years before he retired it has always amazed me at how his mind works... I remember as a child being his laborer in the summer and hating it today iam so thankful he taught me everything he did. it's extremely gratifying to be able to do your own work and repairs on your home as always neat video.

for kitchen cabinets, i have seen those type in cabinet made by my wife's grandfather. he is also a carpenter. but for door knobs, those are all amazing. thank you for the video.

I lost my Dad in 89, he was always making wooden latches, doors and hinges. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.He always tried to make things, like his father before him. I just tinker with wood and work on passenger elevators for a living

I love amogla camp. Getting a guided tour through all the cottages was a treat. And the door latches are phantastic with their little variations. Some desings are based on or are by coincidence similar to the way these things were done centuries ago.

That was inspiring! What a brilliant range of ideas for getting away from the horrible cheap-looking but expensive modern trashy handles of today. We are just re-renovating our farmhouse after 20 years of constant use and these are just perfect solutions to our door furniture problems. I am about to build a dresser too for the kitchen so the wooden hinges are a timely reminder too. Thanks for uploading! All the very best from Normandie, Andy

These are so impressive. I live in a house built in the 1780s, and the previous owner built some very simple wooden latches for some of the doors that are modeled after door latches from an old, historic courthouse in a nearby town.

It is quite amazing how the house doesn't ever creak, there are newer modern homes that creak when they are walked in and they are made out of brick and metal, your father must of been a master woodworker, great to see old wooden housing still existing, it is very cool. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for showing us these amazing latches etc. It would be really cool to take one apart just to see the inner workings of the springs and mechanisms. It certainly makes for a good demonstration of fine craftsmanship. It's sad that such simple devices are not used more often and the modern stuff just breaks down so they replace it and throw the broken one "away"!
