@@CelesticCF go for a silent spinner or silent runner (two different type of wheels, similar names) both very quiet (silent spinner sometimes requires the two sections being glued together to achieve total silence) and both are plastic so can be cleaned super easily! Both on the slightly pricier side but still affordable and defo worth the investment :)

I just finished boiling rocks for a natural cage themed cage. My dad walked in while I was finishing the boiling and was pouring it into a colander. He saw me doing this and said “are you making pasta? Can I have some?” I died with laughter

Deanna Schmalz too sanitize them:) cause if you don’t there is a bunch of dirt and dangerous bacteria on the rocks. So when you boil it, it all comes off and it’s safe too use in a hamster cage

When making a woodeen wheel, I would recommend using two ball bearings to make the wheel practically silent and easier to spin for the hamster.

I remember that I bought my second hamster a bigger plastic wheel than the one that came with the cage because he had grown out of the first one. Then the grip, that was attached to the cage bars, after a while became torn so the wheel kept sliding down to the cage bottom. After a few secs after my little friend started running there the wheel just stopped. I have never seen a more confused hamster... every time it happened! 😂 It was hilarious but I knew my hamster wanted to run so I got help with making a little hook that made the wheel stay up. It worked perfecttly but was a bit tricky when I needed to take it off and on to clean the cage but it was so worth it. This wheel looks a lot different from what that wheel looked like but I like the DIY wooden wheel better. If I get a hamster again this will certainly be on my to do-list. I made a wooden cube once with holes to climb through but it wasn't very popular with my hamster. And I made a wooden house for him to sleep in, he liked it so much that the plastic house that came with the cage was used as a toilet instead. 😂

I got a Campbell Dwarf and so many wheels are way to small (toy size) or way too big. And all the good quality wheels are so damn expensive in my city. This video was helpful, because I had all the materials in my workshop. Thanks!

Hi erin this isnt related to the video! But i use chipsi bedding for my hamster, i recently made the change. But my hammy keeps grooming till his entire bodied fur is wet is this normal and then he comes out to play. Is this maybe an allergy or is this normal. Im taking him to the vet tmrw

Currently there is no official minimum. Hamster hideout members though, recommend a minimum of 800 square inches for a Syrian. Now this is more of a guideline than a minimum to be honest because there are numerous cases where hamsters are happy in cages smaller than that but most people there agree that anything below 500 square inches is too small.
