Gw2 Storytime AND Speculation/News - The Shadowbox

Hey guys! About time I talk about the crazy oddness with the current super adventure box story, eh? Theres a lot of theories about this current stuff, but watch this and you'll be up to date and able to make up your own mind!

Something I like is the tie in with a tiny bit of dialogue that has existed since the beginning of the game. If you go to the Dynamics dormitories, you are stopped by an asura who says the area has been evacuated because someone put glowing dye in the showers.

My theory on the existence of the Genie in the box is that it is tied to Moto's use of "emotions" to fuel the building of the machine. The face that Miya is merely a dressed up Moto, and the fact that he sees a shadowy figure of himself seems to suggest that the different characters of the box represent different emotions and facets of his personality. This would explain why he seems unaware of the Genie's instruction, as it it a rogue part of his personality created in the forging of the box.

Just fight on the middle of the 3 big lily pads, when the boss does one of his single wave attacks (he'll look down towards the side it's gonna come from) move to the opposite side of the pad and dodge to the side the wave is coming from and you'll be fine. When he goes for his big belly flop that sends out 2 waves dodging through will only avoid one of them so you can hop around on the small pads behind you to stay out of range of the waves.

Miyanni's dialogue refers to him as a genie.

I believe the other person helping him, is him. The part where he's putting in those last bits of work on the box. He hasn't slept, possibly a bit delusional, and channeling raw emotions into his work, anger, pride; not exactly good emotions. In a stuper, he added parts to the game he wouldn't normally contiously do. This is why when questioned about the events he's obliviouse. He now has funding, a place to sleep, the stress has lifted. Those subcontiouse hostile thoughts are far from his mind.

Agreed. From a story tell perspective, it would be to their benefit to leave scarlet out of it for at least a few updates. Give us time to get distracted, feel safe again, then BAM! mail bomb... If she keeps returning every time and gets thwarted every other week, she'd turn out to be no more then a Saturday Morning Cartoon villain.

I was thinking aspects of the box reflect Moto. The princess would reflect his positive emotions as she appeared when Moto saw that his creation was a success. The shadow would be the negative emotions that are not currently at the forefront of his mind but linger in the background. The genie would be Moto's wishes and desires. Also, the books would reflect the truth talking about the princesses true identity and how Moto wants to avoid fulfilling his desires. Kind of falls apart at vanquish.

The competitor's machine is actually a LOT like the one that Scarlet used to become all knowing, with the asura saying "it feels like someone shoved too many books in my brain"

Given the cutscene, I'd have to say I find this all to be a bit reminiscent of the Thaumanova Reactor. "Every world" has waffles, hmm? That sounds like an attempt to learn about all possible worlds. Perhaps even to access the Asurans' favorite obsession, the Eternal Alchemy. I'm also going to hazard a guess that the surprising polish of the world of the Super Adventure Box suggests that maybe it's not a simulation, but a portal. I do expect Scarlet to be related somehow.

I think the Ominous Shadow might be a fight in the next world, he was fueled by anger when he made the world then took a nap, the device probably did something while he slept, this might be linking the cutscene of his old Krewe and how their device works while you sleep and they used similar designs, and his mind while asleep finished the world and created Dark Moto. We will have to fight Dark Moto or Dark version of outselves, and it will be a nod to Dark Link in the Legend of Zelda series.

Zommoros is a djinn When asked about Zommoros' relation to elementals, Leif Chappelle asked Jeff Grub, he said that djinns are to other elementals as humans are to other animals. You must remember that ANet is HIGHLY inconsistent in the names they use, as they don't pass all their content though an unified consitency check. One dev uses a term, and another may put something slightly different. And so incongruence is sometimes created. In this case, "djinn" and "genie" are the same thing.

I think it might have something to do with him "channeling raw emotion" into his work. I wouldn't know how Scarlet would know about him and his crush/girlfriend. I think it may be that his emotions created some sort of self-aware, evil AI-version of himself in the Super Adventure Box.

It's ironic to me how I find the most silly, side part of the Living Story actually got a response from me. I was sad when that whole cinematic played, and felt sorry for the Asura there as they were rather nice.

That's pretty interesting. I thought Zommoros was a djinn and they just used genie as a synonym or something. Miyani mentions that he was brought from Elona by the Order of Whispers

I believe: motos subconsciousness built the last bit of the box, because he fell asleep befor finishing it. And his old kru is building this learning machine while asleep - sooooo... :D this would also explain that shadow in the box which looks like him

I think he was working alone. He poured himself into the work. It's magical forces he's working with and he poured his emotions into it. Oola the golumancer work showed the subconscious of the Asura leaks into their work. I think Moto put to much of himself into his work. His resentment, pride, and other dark desires are hidden under the colorful pixels.

Zommoros is a Djinn.... From the wiki: "Zommoros is a djinn hailing from distant Elona, imprisoned within the Mystic Forge. He mainly speaks through Miyani, rarely granting an audience to anyone else."

New Krytan is like the common tongue, and since this thing is designed to be used by all races NK makes most sense.

While doing a sPvP tourney on another char, log out and create a new char, and u will be teled into the tourney u were in. Once the tourney finishes u will be teled as a lvl 1 :D.... but your personal story will be locked at lvl 1 and cannot be continued for that character, because u can't go back to the PS quest :/ Hope i helped

Shadow..a darker image of yourself. I believe that both in the short story and in the genie istance we see Moto's evil side that was somehow manifested in the SAB.

I personally think the SAB is man made area of the mists, maybe even without Moto knowing about it, after all he fell asleep. Might tie into Scarlet, might not at all. If in fact it is part of the mists, it might tie heavily into the mastery of the eternal alchemy, just putting it out there.

Do you think it has anything to do with how he had to power his facilities with his emotions, particularly his DARK emotions? The negative energy could have created an AI of its own (very common theme in stories about games) which mirrors Moto's feelings after he was kicked out of his group.

Moto fell asleep after working on the AI right? Perhaps his AI finished the SAB for him? Speaking of, are there true AIs in the Guild Wars universe? I know golems have at least some limited AI but I don't know of any that act on their own to do whatever they want...

acording to the wiki, zommoros is actually also a Djinn and not a genie(, you also spelled djinn worng:P). Otherwise thanks for a great episde. I found the genie but was never bothered checking out what it was that it was talking abut but I'm gonna go se it next time I log in.

I would especially like it if this had nothing to do with scarlet. I would like a different story that takes place at the same time much more. Like a side story. If everything that happens has to be related to scarlet it takes away mystery of everything that happens.

Why is the SAB dialogue in New Krytan anyway? The asura have their own script, and it was created by an asura. I find that kinda strange, but I guess it's cause everything else in game is in New Krytan. Meh :p

It's terrible. I have no clue how people are able to get past that. I watched my dad play it in april on regular mode and he made it look so easy. It comes out again in September, and I'm here feeling very lucky I had continue coins from april still in my bank. And this was all on infantile mode... I really suck at that thing
