Fun fact: an alternate name for the silverwastes was "Arid Mamnoon" before the map was released... Source: dev tracker official forums.

Love these lore related video's as a player who never got to play Guild Wars 1. I was thinking about Quarrel Falls; to me it looks a bit like the oasis in Dry Top. They have many similarities, mainly being the calm haven in between (sandstormy) wastelands.

I'll be honest, I've never played GW1. I hopped on board with GW2, but it still blows my mind whenever I watch your videos and see all the connections between the two. Thank you so much for posting all these Lore videos and allowing me to keep up to date with any connections that might be happening in game.

i wish GW2's new areas had more visual/geographical references. this video is somewhat depressing in that there's practically nothing you can spot in GW2's maguuma that you could recognize from GW1. also, i seriously hope we get some lush jungle areas. it's something we're missing in GW2 badly. closest we have is caledon forest, but it's barely noticeable as a forest. i want something dense and with skyscraping canopies that the sun barely makes through, like the echovald forest was.

LegendaryMythril Agreed. I can understand if they wanted the jungle to dry up, but they could have at least made a large sink in the ground where the Lagoon was. (Not counting the skritt jumping puzzle)
@LegendaryMythril
@LegendaryMythril 9 жыл бұрын
TEK427 i think even lore acknowledgement through dialogue would spice things up. say, someone pointing out that the lagoon not only dried up, but formed a sedimented layer near its top leading to that massive chasm below. but the areas look nothing alike. 250 years or not, "elder dragons reshaping tyria" or not, mountains and valleys don't disappear so easily.

Well.. there -is- a ship in the skritt jumping puzzle.. And the goal is about summoning water .. so that does quite compute with the Lagoon thing in some way perhaps.

That Splinter Weapon. XD I had no idea about the stone tree! I sort of miss the lush, pretty sights in the Maguuma jungle. The place I'm really looking forward to in GW2 is seeing the The Falls. I wonder if we'll get a reference to Zinn's lab, since it's at the bottom of the lake (and we now have underwater combat!).

I totally forgot about that tree in Ventari's refuge...It kind of reminds me of how the pale tree is laid, how the roots of the tree make it hover, and then it stays above ground with it's roots. seems odd. cool to remember though.

Not sure if it's just the zoom or what, but I just noticed the face in the map in the lower right hand corner (12:56). Kind of looks like a boar's head being struck by a dark bolt. Neat.

WP, Quarrel Falls seems, to me, to be the spot in the JP where all of the sand piles are. So almost like the waterfalls turned into "sandfalls". I'm at work or I'd look, but isn't that area actually called "Quarrel SomethingOrOther"?

these video's are awesome! They do make me realize that GW2 could be so much better if they changed certain things, for example if our main antagonists weren't dragons which are the most boring villains ever, just plain beasts without any motivations besides wanting magic and destroy stuff. it would be so much cooler to have a real enemy that we can actually relate to, which makes us question who's motivation is right, would love that stuff!

Hey WP, i got a question for you. The maguuma jungle tour videos you are doing reminded me about the simplicity and unparalleled beauty of the GW1 maps. When i compared them to the GW2 maps, i realised that i miss the feeling of being far away from civilization, just exploring hard accessible areas and enjoying the scenes of the game . The GW2 maps sometimes seem a bit packed/crowed with npc and events. I was wondering if you also miss those simple GW1 maps, and if you do, do you think we will see that kind of map return in the future? A map with few events and NPCs might seem boring to some people, but i enjoy the tranquility of those maps and are a real joy to explore. What do you think? Thx dude :D

All in all Guild Wars 1 seems like it was made with a lot of attention to detail, handcrafted and a great sense of scale. Guild Wars 2 has detail but it feels a lot more generic and less inspired.

Jungle Tour 1 made me re-install GW1 :D Kamadan was a bit of a shock.. it used to be full of afk-ers and trade spamming "Q9 Voltaic Spear" sellers. I think I saw like 5 people the whole time I was there. Kinda wish some of that FoW armor could have been left in the Hall of Monuments for my GW2 guys to find. I wonder if ANet knew about the plan for the Sylvari when they initially dropped the hint in GW1, where you found Ventari *spoiler?* planting the seed that would be the Pale Tree (I think). Did they know then that they would turn out to be Mordremoth's minions? Because I was under the impression that Ventari grew the seed and he kind of "made" the Sylvari the way they are by imprinting his ideals on the tree as it grew. I guess that could be why they are different to the way they should be now. Confused :/

Hey WP, ventari's refuge it's location is gw2 is now near an area in dry top that is swamped with mordred and vines. Do you think there might be any special mordrem presence there? It's seems as that might be an exit through dry top to another area.

Is that me or Exalted, are kinda "new" Mursaat, who changed their mentality. For the moment, they didn t show us any "blood" rock ( in gw1, named jade rock, but with a red color, like blood xD). Maybe it s mainly changment about their magic, I don t really know...

Im assuming that 6 bloodstone shards, and 6 elder dragons is not a coincidence?
@JamesFordMDL
@JamesFordMDL 9 жыл бұрын
Nick Fry now that it seems that the forgotten freed glint and made the bloodstones, there could be something in that. Although that leaves questions about the central keystone.
@JazzLafayette
@JazzLafayette 9 жыл бұрын
Nick Fry It's possible there's meaning here, but unlikely. There are only four (non-keystone) bloodstones, and each is tied to a school of Tyrian magic (aggression, destruction, preservation, denial). On the other hand, each of the six elder dragons has been said to have two "spheres of influence" over the world, none of which align directly with the old schools. Zhaitan could manipulate death and shadow, for example. Still, you could make the case that each sphere is some permutation of one or more of the bloodstone magics.

Juan Andres If gw2 had a better system for finding skills and real quests and lore to learn it would have the best of both worlds. But in general I think Gw2 leveling is more fun. Leveling gear is boring and a mess, though, too.
