www.northlineex... demonstrates the awesome power of the WoodEze Electric Log Splitters. Take all the work out of splitting that wood pile with the new WoodEze 7-Ton Electric Log Splitter. The dependable electric engine runs on regular household current and features a ground fault breaker that protects against overload. With either 7 tons of splitting force or 4 tons, this splitter will split logs up to 20" long and 12" or more in diameter. The all steel construction makes this unit durable and tough allowing for years of dedicated service. Fully assembled when delivered this Wood Splitter makes splitting logs a simple task.
Two handed operation keeps your hands safe while operating. The left hand controls the hydraulic control lever, while the right hand controls the pushbutton switch. The log splitter will freeze with the absence of either hand. Only after both hands release the controls will the log pusher start to return to the starting position. This splitter provides a consistent, convenient, and secure cutting motion everytime. The incredibly designed two speed motor (7 ton model) provides 4 tons of force at a faster speed and 7 tons at a lower speed with the same single phase motor. The splitting force and speed are governed by the two-stage control lever. Push the lever in the first stage for faster speeds using less splitting force for usual logs or push the lever in the second stage for maximum splitting force at a lower speed to split particularly hard and seasoned logs. These stages can be shifted by simply raising and lowering a lever. Available in a 4 ton version and a 7 ton version, both firewood splitters provide great value, portability, ease of use, and safety. Low maintenance, always starts,

I'm using the 7 ton right now. Had it for 3 years. It's ok. Doesn't split everything. I bypassed the button for a one hand operation. I also put it on my tailgate of the truck and pull wood from it after getting a load. No bending over. Only drawback is initially lifting onto tailgate. Pretty heavy for one person.

These are great and I got a good deal from Northline. UPS damaged the unit in delivery and Northline expressed the broken parts right away. I put it on a couple of saw horses when I split to avoid bending over. Also for shorter logs use a 4x4 piece as a spacer to save time.

Use a ratchet Bar Clamp to hold down the power button and leave the motor running. Uses less elctric because there is no start up, then you have 1 hand free. Also if your cutting 18 inch logs use vice pliers to shorten the ram range from going back to the stop.

May want to save your back on future use, by installing in on some sort of higher stand. Either make one or buy one for $40.

I have a different 5 ton electric but I've always used it on a stand I built for it. It would be worthless to me on the ground like you use them due to my back.

I wish they made these with a 1 button operation. I would entertain using one for light commercial use but the 2 hand is a no go. Lots of times I have to hold my hand on the unusually shaped log to hold it in the right spot to split where I want it to split for the correct size for customer requests.

I'm using one as I'm typing this. Had mine for 3 years. I bypassed the button. Simply tied the wires together. Took 5 min. Now one handed operation.

understand two hand control switches but man thats got to be hard on the back. you were bent over almost the whole time definatly not proper body mechanics. but other than that they seem to work well.

These maul are to thick. When you get a new maul grind them down to a slimmer edge. it only take 15 min. > If it don't penetrate, Its not going to split . If it bounces off? THE CUTTING EDGE ITS TO BLUNT OR DULL

You mention winterizing a gas powered splitter. Let me tell you how this is done. It isn't. There isn't any winterizing to do. I have had a 20 ton machine (with Honda 5.5) . It's now 17 years old and runs like new. And it can get to -temps in CT. at times. Starts on 1st or 2nd pull. Don't have to pick them big ones either, the machine works in verticle position as well.
