Hands down THE BEST technique for a wood grain EVER! Thank you so much! I watched so many different methods and they were so complicated and I kept having to wipe it off and start over. The brown base was KEY to success! I just ROCKED one for a close friend whos wife ordered one for him. I just sent her a video of it and she loves it! I hope her husband loves it too!

Have you done a peek a boo with the wood grain? Would you seal it between the light color or just put the removable decal on and then do a darker color over it and remove decal and then seal? Latte definitely turns green!

Question: I did your wood grain technique and did a light coat of epoxy on it. Can I put more woodgrain ink ON the layer of epoxy? I have a couple places that are lighter than the rest of the cup. Wondering, can I do a woodgrain ink on top of the light layer of epoxy? 🤷🏻♀️

Question: if I’m painting a larger/longer object, like another commenter said a rifle stock- How do I handle the long brushstrokes that will certainly run out of ink before I reach the end of the stock?

Add the paint in front of the brush as you are stroking

@MissKissKreations - I just did my first wood grain tumbler, and when I sprayed it with the Krylon, it immediately turned all spotted. :( This is acrylic spray that I've had for a bit, so is it just because it's old, or did I maybe spray too closely to the tumbler?
@MissKissKreations4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t used acrylic spray paint before so I don’t know what happened. Maybe try regular spray paint or Shake you’re can more
@KeautyDesigns4 жыл бұрын
@@MissKissKreations believe it or not, it ended up working out. The more I messed with it, it ended up having a distressed wood look and it's wicked cool! :) I did, however, buy a new can of spray sealer so I don't have that issue again.

Love your videos!! I have 2 questions. Why do you clear coat this tumbler before you epoxy? Do you clean your brush 🤔 after you brush on the alcholol ink? If so. what do you use to clean it with?
@MissKissKreations3 жыл бұрын
I don’t ever clean my brush. I have specific brushes for specific shades. Also alcohol to clean the brush.
@MissKissKreations3 жыл бұрын
I seal before so the epoxy doesn’t fade the alcohol ink

There is so many ways to do woodgrain I have my own technique of doing the ones I do but I love watching how others do it also and I have always spray paint my cups white but I may change that after watching your video. I do have a question though if the woodgrain is a lighter color and not dark like yours do you think it would still look OK using that spray paint ?

Can you do this without painting cup first , and just leave it the stainless steel?
@MissKissKreations4 жыл бұрын
You can, but I would recommend painting the cup first. Even if it’s with acrylic paint and not spray paint. The inks may not stick to the stainless steel cup, the epoxy will most likely repeal around the tumbler. Having a flat or satin finish helps everything stick.

What do you put your tumbler on to spray paint ? I spayed my first one today and it ran, etc. I did not put in on the turner because I thought the paint would ruin it. I just put it on a pole outside and sprayed it. Will the run marks be ok when I epoxy and put on the ink?

Beautiful cup but Wow that is a lot of alcohol ink used. Have you tried moving the ink around with 91% alcohol? Ink will go a long way when you do
@MissKissKreations4 жыл бұрын
It’s not too much used. If I used 91% alcohol then it will spread in a way I don’t want it to and it won’t have the wood rain effect. It will have a water color brown effect. Which would still look awesome! Just not the look I was going for on this tumbler! 😊

When I sprayed my cup with the same exact spray paint as yours mine came out rough and looked a different shade. I cleaned my cup and it was regular stainless steel. The ink kind of soaked in the paint and it was blah. Do you have any idea why?
@MissKissKreations5 жыл бұрын
TheGoodmanVlogs Make sure before you spray paint your tumbler, your tumbler is prepped! Go back to my videos to see how to prep a tumbler. Also, make sure your spray paint is covered evenly, not too thick of a coat, we just want the tumbler to be coated to have that matte feel, so the paints and epoxy will stick better. Make sure your spray paint is completely dry! 100% dry before you apply anything else to the tumbler. Hope this helps and have fun!

How much epoxy do you use for the thick final coat?
@MissKissKreations5 жыл бұрын
I typically do 3 cups at a time. So it’s hard for me to judge. I mix epoxy in big batches. I’d say 1ML for each 10 ounces on a regular coat. So, for a flood coat, double. Total: 6-10MLs for a flood coat
