I’m getting ready to move my HM 126 to another location on my property. Your video is a. tremendous help. I watched one of your videos a couple of months ago where you went through this process. I was so glad this morning to see this review. Vey helpful. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your channel.

Thanks Jack. Best to you as you re-set-up your mill. Keep me posted on your progress. Thanks again!

I've set mine up on cross ties and I had to do the same thing but like u said its just a very little, have a good day, God bless

Thanks. If mine were not on a trailer you can bet I would have a solid base such yours.

@SawdustandSweatNC i almost went with the trailer but I don't really plan on moving it anywhere, the only problem with using crossties is they r not uniform, it takes alot of time to get everything trued up, but its solid when done, looking forward to u getting ur shed done, hope it all goes well for u

@ricksmith4372 Thanks! And yes, I understand your situation.

I am strongly considering getting one of the smaller Woodland Mills models for myself; I've had difficulty finding someone to mill some trees I had taken down, and just the other day I discovered a very large oak in my woods has just died - I'd hate to let that wood go to waste too. I have been really impressed with your mill for the price; I know it took a little to get in tune but it sure seems like once it's dialed in it's not going anywhere. The inner machinist in me would be interested to see the deflection on the bed when you have a heavy log on it. I don't think it matters in the slightest (and there's no practical way you could adjust for it log by log anyway) but tolerances and such have always interested me for some reason.

The call on the purchase is for sure an individual thing. There are many who purchase seeing the glamour of the deal only to find out they either; a. Don't have time. B. Don't have space. C. Find it is work D. Do not have the aptitude for it, etc.. Best to you in your decision. As far as deflection, without a solid /total base I feel certain this could definitely be an issue. With the trailer, the steel of the trailer along with its support points, I personally do not believe any log I could mill would cause deflection at all. In my opinion, the jacks would be the first thing to fail.

@@SawdustandSweatNC Agree with sawdust. Milling is a lot more work than anticipated. I also had to spend way more time getting things set up and working properly. And there seems to be regular readjustments. I have not had good luck getting the mill on the trailer.

@lukefisher7618 I forgot, did you fab your own trailer or purchase?

I appreciate the advice. I finally got someone to come mill my old persimmon log - imagine my surprise when he pulled up with an HM 130 Max! First thing I said was, I know all about this machine 😄 It definitely looks like something I’d be interested in. Maybe not immediately now, but I can for sure see myself getting one some day sooner rather than later.

@robertaustin7752 Hope you got some good boards. I'm sure you know, Persimmon was the wood of choice for many Golf Club makers back when Woods were Woods and not metal.

I just put my mill into service. I have my bed / bunks flat and level with the blade. I cut some oak for my first couple logs. My cuts have an occasional wave, I’m attributing it to knots and learning how which speed works on this mill compared to my last mill (different brand) and I’m still running the blade that was shipped on the mill. I probably need to put on a new blade.

My experience, and take it for what it's worth; Sounds like you have the bed and head dialed in, perfect. Wavy cuts are the result of one of four things or a combination of these things. 1. Blade needs to be a bit tighter. 2. Milling too fast, especially need to slow down at knots. 3. Or, as you have eluded to, a dull blade. 4. Blade guides not properly set. Now, and I think this may be our biggest culprit; The adjustable guide arm is not designed where we can set it as close as it should be to the log. Best to you, let me know what you learn. Appreciate it.

Oh, and I've learned, if I get a wave because of a knot, I will pull up, and then reset on the log and then shave very slowly over the way area. I've found you can flatten it out pretty good.

Forums are full of folk who have issues getting good cuts and square cants. This works for me. Have you tried something similar?

As always enjoy your videos. I have an HM126 about 3 years old. The jack handles don't come off so I am always banging my shins. Did yours come off or did you reconfigure the jack top? A while ago you recommended loosening more bolts to help fix the a low part of the track. I did that and was able to get it level. I am still struggling with a high bunk, and some of the bunks are not square so that when you lay a straight edge on them one edge of the bunk is higher. I'm talking front to back, not side to side. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you and I were working together on getting this bed flat we would get it for sure. From what you have diagnosed and your description, sounds like our flat plane is going to be determined by the highest point on the highest bunk. Assuming that is, this bunk is absolutely as low it can be. Then, I think we would measure at this highest bunk up to the blade, get this bunk parallel with the blade. That would be our "benchmark" and we would then shim each bunk as needed so all bunks would be the same distance from the blade. With some right sized shims we probably could create a flat plane. Does this make sense to you? If not, email me at sawdustandsweatnc@gmail.com and we'll chat more. You will get it, just s little time and patience, dependable level and jigs, you will get it. Jack handles-- Mine came the way you see on the videos. Yeah, that would be "not good" if I had to walk and work around the handles. Maybe contact customer service at WM on this one. Let me know what you find out.

I ordered the new tops for the jack stands so you can remove the handle that gets in the way. Not too pricey and simple to change out the top end.
