Nice mods, I did the trailer jack three years ago, it’s awesome, I did a jib with a winch to turn the big ones, I’m still using the original log clamps, but yours look simple to make. Thanks for doing this tour.

I hope Woodland Mills watches this video. These additions make wood sawing so much easier. Turning a large diameter log is very hard by yourself. I am really considering getting another mill just for that feature.

I hear you! I would have bought the upgrades if they offered them. I have considered buying a bigger wood mixer because of it!

Thanks for the video, very informative without any of the annoying background music others use. I installed a treadmill motor for the power lift on my hm130max, now for the log turner similar to yours.

Thanks for watching! I try to keep my videos straight to the point and no fluff and extra sound effects! It drives me crazy too when I am watching videos on how to do something and they add all sorts of pointless stuff to the videos! Andy just found you and I really impressed with your engineering knowledge. I have only one eye and am 81 years old and just last week ordered my new HM130MAX. Will be here in 3 days. I ordered the power head lift did I waste money. Do you have any info for me less expensive. I’m sure I will wear you out with questions if You don’t mind. Love it and have subscribed with bell notification

If they had the power head option when I bought my mill earlier this year I would have bought it to save me the time on making one. When I made mine they didn’t have it as an option nor was it in the pipeline. I have a bad shoulder so it was a need for me. The power head and the auto log clamp were 2 game changers for me. If you are handy with a welder, it was pretty easy to make, I had it done and working in about 30-40mins tops and had $100 into the jack.

Enjoyed the video, thanks. I have HM-126 I was planning on using a wheel chair motor and sprockets for power head but I like your idea better. Are the ACME threads on the jack and mill the same?
@portercreek2 жыл бұрын
I am not sure, I haven’t checked. I haven’t used the manual crank over ride I have only used the electric so it doesn’t matter because you can’t see how many revolutions the jack is making.

Hi Andy, I also have the HM130 max, and I’m loving your mods. Have you thought of a different system for the log stops? I haven’t hit one yet but it’s only a matter of time....thanks for the ideas
@portercreek Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have some stops that are made of maple that I use. I put a clear coat on them to help prevent them from swelling.

That Chinese winch will pull almost double the weight if you hook it up to that spiked arm like you would a snatch block and back to your winch area. Instead of directly hooking it to that spiked arm. More “snatch blocks” the less effort it takes from your winch to turn those logs. Nice setup by the way and I’ll definitely be copying some of the mods you made.
@portercreek2 жыл бұрын
I found that with the 4500 pound winch if doesn’t need to have double the pull strength. The 3000 pound winch I had on there before was too weak and needed the snatch block. I would recommend getting the 4500 winch, it is quite a bit faster! Thanks for the feedback!
