It seemed like your slip clutch wasn't set quite right. The grinder should not kill the tractor like it did in this video more than once. It should slip instead, preventing damage to your tractor and PTO system. Might want to review your owner's manual on how to correctly set that slip clutch for your tractor's PTO horsepower. Great video as always Brock. Just wanted to share my experience with you just as you share yours with all of us.

I've got the same one. Does a good job. One thing to watch out for is when the grinder pivots back that shortens the coupling engagement. It can both fall out and even damage the shaft - at least on some tractor setups. So, be sure to slow down when it starts to pivot.

I’ve had the exact stump grinder for four years now and with out a doubt it is a great machine and has done everything I have ever had to do with it! After using it the first few times I learned what worked best for me operation wise……. I never take the pin out and let it Pivot. The drive line will extend and tear its self up.. I’ve never had that problem but a friend of mine borrowed it from me and totaled the shaft an I had to buy a new driveline. He totally didn’t know what he was doing operating the unit. I just do not let anyone borrow any of my equipment any more…. Every time I do it always comes back to me damaged in some way or the other. ( No good deed goes unpunished ) 😂. Secondly, fine tune and adjust the slip clutches to suit your tractor hp so that they function as designed to slip. Great product!! 🔥🔥🔥👍👍👍

Hey Brock - I ground 2,400 Christmas tree stumps with that model. One thing I learned - as someone else said if you let it tilt too much the shafts fly apart. I installed a slightly longer shaft - and painted the female portion bright pink - when that starts showing I know to back off. I do need to replace the work teeth now

I noticed you have the turn buckles on the tractor instead of the stabilworks stabilizers you installed a while back. Is there a reason for this? Did the stabilworks not work as you thought?

I am sure you saw in the manual to check the torque of the teeth and the clutch spring tension. I have the 270B bachoe but now that i have thewoodland mills stump grinder i perfer to use it and they make a really cheap price wise backup camera that you can watch the stump without having to keep your body turned toward the stump. Geat video as always.

Awesome video- I have the same grinder. I had issues with it killing my tractor occasionally then adjusted the slip clutch and I’ve never had it kill the tractor since. Maybe worth looking into if you haven’t. I appreciate the great content you bring on a regular basis 😊

That little unit would be the attachment of choice when you are removing a tree close to a building or any other close quarter stump removal. Lot less yard damage than running the skid steer up there too.

Nice job. I've got the baumalight version of that grinder. Very similar. Two points for me: it will pull a 2038 down. It will kill my 1025r now and then if I'm pushing it. These tractors don't have enough PTO power to really make the slip clutch slip. Also, I leave the transport in most of the time and I'm just that much more careful. Along the same lines as the slip clutch, these tractors will pull down before it slips or breaks something. I prefer a predictable angle, but I know in your position with them you better stick to how it's designed...lol They're a great low cost grinding option for sure, and mine has paid for itself in a couple years through side jobs. Thanks!

Nice video Brock, just a few things 1. I’d love to have one of those stump grinders along with a sawmill and a wood chipper, 2. I’d like to see some of the footage in real speed grinding the stump so I could get more of an idea of how it operates, 3. If I seen that right in the video it stalled your tractor a few times, that slip clutch needs to be burned in/adjusted for it to work properly, so it doesn’t kill your driveline

Good morning Brock. I believe that a stump grinder is a great and useful tool to have in the shed but for a lot of people including myself it's not really something that I would have the budget for. A person could go out and rent one but that is also an expense that may be prohibitive pluse having to transport it from the rental place and back. For me, the most cost effective and easiest to deal with the stump is to dig around the stump and push or pull the tree over and deal with the stump separately especially if I needed to remove the stump altogether for a building project. Just an opinion. Actually, I do need to rent a stump grinder to for a stump in my back yard. I had a dead ash tree taken down a few years ago and had the stump ground but the ground settled and now the stump is at ground level again. I really wish that you lived next door.😁 Anyway, God bless and have a wonderful day.

You put that chainsaw on the mount backward , the motor sits on the rubber pad . Good job done with grinder ,much less Hassle than digging it out ! pc

I sold rotary cutters for probably close to 40 years and one of the first things the manuals tell you to do is to loosen and slip the slip clutch as you begin using the implement. Might make a good informative video project for you. A lot of implements use slip clutches and most folks don’t know that these clutches need maintenance.

I like digging up the tree and pushing it over and getting rid of the stump. But not everyone has the equipment to do that.
@RockhillfarmYT10 ай бұрын
How do you get rid of the stump though? The problem with that method is the stump is covered in dirt, so it won’t burn
@Nicholaskleyn10 ай бұрын
I burn them. I have had good success burning stumps. You just need a real hot fire. It’s a lot of fun. It takes some time but on my property I’ve burnt 100s of stumps in the past two years but you do need small trees and brush to keep it burning and stoked up.
@Puckgrinder8510 ай бұрын
I had one, worked well for the price, moved up to a swinging unit which is obviously nicer. Still don't get why they put teeth way the hell up on the wheel, if you're using more than an inch or so in depth on the edge of that wheel i'd be surprised. You really only use the first row, and the tilted and radial teeth. If anything they are just there to eject debris.

3/4/23...video/show on yur 3pt hitch Stump Grinder for $2200..interesting...that big rod...for a rear-ward pivot as tractor creeps forward...wondering if would conflict with Universal in extn shaft or (worse) PTO Spline deep into rear end, gears & crack case..??? Earlier comments say No, do not pivot this unit & risk damaging rotating components leading to PTO. This means 'hands on' up/down lever of 3pt during forward 'creep' & grind. So Brock, give us some video testing of this 'no pivot' but raise/lower of entire 3pt when grinding...or is this too much 'fiddling' with levers while trying to cycle creep back & forth? Know i much enjoy your channel primarily for your 'straight talk' & honest opinions..& giving prices of of tools, implements etc. Looks like you are one of thise 'total transparency' kind of guy 😊.A+. Stay safe & carry on 💪🔧⚙️👍🍺😊

Morning gents & cowboy 🤪 how r the teeth ? Looked like u hit some rocks . From what I know ( bairly) green teeth were the best 15/ 20 years ago , way better than the stock teeth. Just my 3 cents , oh just a little thought that popped into my cranium, we would always put a rope in a tree because we were working at the state and along the road way ( lots of hazards) so now I almost always put a rope in a tree I have messed up and didn't and it bit me and putting one in after the fact is usually more dangerous. But I probably wouldn't have done that tree with a rope from what I saw . 👀 I don't know . But it all worked out & that's all that matters. Great job and keep on keeping on . 🤪Todd
