Im in Wales and tend to find mostly larch. I have a few spots where golden chanterelles grow close to sitka spruce but never in huge abundance.

There are some lookalikes. I cover some of them here; false chanterelles and jack o lanterns. I'd always advise having a good field guide or two out with you when foraging and do some research in advance as to what other foragers are saying are lookalikes. If in doubt, leave it out. Happy foraging.

the smaller ones are tastier imo
