Really nice job recreating this. It's one of my favorite Schmeck layouts. I would encourage you to keep doing these classic recreations cuz there is a group of people who REALLY love to see them.

An article published in The New York Times on October 7, 1955,(P.50) stated that a syndicate of real estate investors based in Philadelphia, and headed by Lewis Silverman, had purchased the park's rides and intended to relocate the park to a new "two million dollar" amusement park to have been constructed in Levittown, Pennsylvania. However, the Levittown amusement park was never built

Could you do a recreation of the Greyhound roller coaster that once operated at Lakewood Fairgrounds in Atlanta? It was in a Smokey and the Bandit movie. I've always wanted to see a video of it.

You know, I believe I've thought about it but saw that someone else was making it. I'll look into that. I try not to do the same recreations as other people.

@@RaptorAlex really? Who was that person?
@RaptorAlex Жыл бұрын
@@CoasterMan13Official I think it was Bob Hooley: www.youtube.com/@bobhooley900. It was on a group board somewhere.

@@RaptorAlex oh. Well, in that case, just might as well wait and see if he posts it on his KZbin, you know?

I've been looking into this coaster and I think I can do most of it, but I can't find any photos or videos showing the ending. I suspect it had some bunny hops inside the outer supports/track, but I can't find anything to make an accurate recreation.

I'm eyeing the Tornado model with interest...

It's really crude and just for background purposes. I could improve it, but I'd need to do more research.

@@RaptorAlex Okay then, that makes sense. I found it difficult to follow the layout as well. I was always curious how much of the ride was fully enclosed versus "windowed"
@RaptorAlex Жыл бұрын
@@karlsturm9698 It began fully enclosed. Parts were opened up because bees kept gathering inside.

Damn, another great coaster lost to racism man; what a shame. I really wish we had more surviving Schmecks - the laterals on this thing look unreal.

There were so many because the owners were stubborn and would rather close than integrate. Awful.

Can't find anything about this on Google, could you explain?

@@TheWolfXCIX The Philadelphia Inquirer mentions this particular park's closure in this article: www.inquirer.com/news/inq2/more-perfect-union-city-planning-inequality-parks-transit-water-20221206.html Otherwise, it's in letters written between park owners. My wife has lots of original documents and photos of original documents from park owners using coded language ("riff-raff," "those people;" though in some instances they outright say it) in which they say they'd rather close their parks than allow Black visitors. Penn State's got a great archive of park correspondence and photos from Charles Jacques Jr., and we've looked through some letters there.
