I'm going to get a soapstone wood burning stove for my new house and really don't know that much about their operation. Your video was simple, to the point and very helpful. Thanks for posting it. Good job!

This is great! We just moved into a house that has this stove and this explains it perfectly! (it is different than the Jotul at our old house) Thank you!

I just moved into an older home with this stove without a manual. This video was great and my first fire a success. Thank you.

I agree, but it’s good for neophytes to have a couple more methinks.

What is the name of the tool you used to open the door? We just got the same stove as you show in the video.. thanks in advance

It is called a fall-away handle. It comes with Woodstock Stoves, but I think they sell them separately as well for around $10 or $12. That said, I usually wear welder's mitts when reloading, and can turn the handle directly that way.

@@andrewgordon8015 thanks.. after researching I found the tool hanging underneath the stove.. your video really helped us when we got the stove ;)

Gotta say, you are a brave man! I personally wouldn't put a wood burning ANYTHING!!! in a vacation rental. I live in the N.C. Blue Ridge, and do the pest control for several mountain cabins. I've seen just how stupid and careless a lot of these vacation renters can be. They'll either get drunk and trash the place, or they'll flat out ignore the clear instructions on how to use the amenities provided for them. I just hope some ignoramus doesn't stay the night at one of your cottages, decides build a fire and thinks that he doesn't need your video, because he got a quick instructional on it once at summer camp when he was 10 years old. Just sayin, that there's a whole lot of people out there who don't care about anything, especially when they aren't the ones who have to clean up the mess, make the repairs, or pay for the insurance afterwords.

Can colored inkson newspapers or magazines damage the catalytic converter?
@wbrokhof2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know, but somewhere along the way I recall learning not to use that kind of paper. I’d stick with newspaper and grocery bags.

Only burn black and white printed paper, envelopes without plastic windows, brown paper bags, and cardboard, and all in small amounts.

Should fire be out before reaching in to clean window?

That depends on how fast you are.

Just bought a Hearthstone Castleton stove with the catalytic converter it's like comparing a Rolls-Royce compared to a Hyundai Kia. Would highly recommend anyone interested in a soapstone stone to find a Hearthstone dealer and compare ease of use and function.

I don't think that your brick hearth is to code considering the risk of hot coals falling on the wood floor...
@wbrokhof2 жыл бұрын
There is no code here… and I didn’t build it, but you are correct that it’s not big enough.
@andreimtriscas66262 жыл бұрын
@@wbrokhof...that's cool, over here their killing us with codes. Not only I have a similar stove but, I'm a professional installer. It's just scary if people don't use it right...
