Rod, i knew i put that chunk in the right hands!! Good move stablizing it. That optical illusion also made it look like it was running in reverse.

@@PohlBarnProductions I will eventually send you a care package also. Just waiting to stumble across the right stuff. Any wood preferences from Missouri trees ? Cherry, sweetgum, red maple ? I'm hoping to get some Syberian elm soon. Most people don't know how pretty the grain is. Ohh yea, got more white oak burls. But they are religious. Holy, you will need to add resin to turn if interested.

Thanks for the shout Rod, means the world to me that my stuff made its way to your channel. Watching your videos is what got me into turning, and I'm currently in the processes of starting my business of wood designs and arts. I have a rather large following on facebook and there are a lot of people pretty excited about it including myself, and I owe it to you and your videos for opening my eyes to the world of art. Thanks Rod.

My Grandfather was a master carpenter, a woodworker of all kinds, and a great man. I’ve recently gotten enough courage to try may hand at some carving and whittling. I aspire to one day get a lathe and other tools to make pieces half as beautiful as yours. Watching your videos makes me feel a little closer to my grandfather. Thank you beyond words.

Wow, Uncle Moe did you a SOLID sending you that lovely piece of burl! And you did him a solid favor in return by turning a gorgeous bowl out of it. As to getting another year out of your lathe, have you thought of selling some of your pieces, and financing a new one that way? You make some great stuff, and I think some of us here might be willing to help you out by buying a piece or two.

I've opened an Etsy store and am saving up for a new lathe, just as you've suggested. Here's the link: www.etsy.com/shop/RHumphreyWoodworking I appreciate your interest. Yes, he sure did! He sent me others too, and I'll get to them soon as I can. Thanks!

Very nice! I just picked up a Live Oak burl in Savannah and was looking for a good approach to turning it. I think this is the way to go.
