@@KostasAnnikasDeftereos I watch a lot of wood turning videos as I'm a beginner and what I like to be able to see is the "cutting" process, not only to study the technique, hand positions, body positions, but also the tool being used and the angle in which it's held. Maybe others just want to see the finished product but I like being able to see the "process". Maybe you could ask other cutters on KZbin what speed they use. AND I LOVE YOUR WORK!!

Wonderful video! From the title I thought you were going to do some offset turning, which I don't enjoy doing myself. Then I thought it was another beautiful dish, but you surprised me. Excellent comment about the finial not working with the drift wood base. The music was perfect for the drone footage. I also appreciate when people mention safety. (I prefer a full face shield and welder's apron when turning large pieces.) Please avoid using the router like that. I'd rather you keep all your fingers available to tie line to the fishing hooks.
@KostasAnnikasDeftereos6 жыл бұрын
Ha ha ha ha ha ! Thanks a lot for your comment Kenzie! I really don't know how to call this form so I just write the oval hollow form ! I do big mistake by use the router like that I will never do it again ! About safety I also be carefull a lot but when I work hours and hours is really hard for me to keep the big musk and I use the glasses ! I also will start in few weeks to use apron because was really hot with it all this time ! Thanks again for you comment my brother ! Have a great week !
@2300Kenzie6 жыл бұрын
Not to take away anything from the magnificent container, but after looking at the grain, I think it would be interesting to cut 90° across the grain and match the grain when piecing the two together. It would make it appear more like the piece was turned without a glue joint. This would work best with a very figured wood. And you are right, the glue joint probably was only successful because coffee was involved.
@KostasAnnikasDeftereos6 жыл бұрын
This was also my first idea but this idea die because have a crack that if I cut it in half will be separate and I will have 3 pieces that I don't like that !!! You know me well I can't work without coffee lol !!
@2300Kenzie6 жыл бұрын
I understand. However you just gave me a new idea. What if you cut a bowl into 4 pieces and pieced 3 of them together? It could be a 3 curve sided urn depending on the concavity of the original bowl. You would have to study the joint first to get a clean glue joint. This could also work in several orientations and with different numbers of sides. I don't think I am clear on my description but hopefully this will give you something to ponder.
@KostasAnnikasDeftereos6 жыл бұрын
Yes I tottaly get it but for this project will be need the cuts be by an angle ! That is not hard ! I am think will be better that to cut it in 4 to cut it in 3 pieces so you can use all the wood !! This is food for thinking !! I will get my pencils again thanks a lot for the inspiration !!
