Woodturning Arch Groove Coasters from Maple

This video shows how I made some arched groove coasters from a piece of mapIe. I started with a piece of 5/8 maple that I had on hand. But you can use any thickness you want. I've made them as thick as 5/4. Be careful not to cut the grooves too deep or the raised areas will become very fragile. Finish them with the finish of your choice. For these I used danish oil. I've also had success soaking them in pure tung oil

You could also glue a felt pad on the bottom or put little felt feet on them to keep from scratching or scuffing up tables or counter tops.
