Hey woodturning fans. You guessed it, another short. I guess that's obvious because its in the shorts category. I know no one reads these descriptions so I'm just gonna amble on aimlessly... in this video I'm turning a bowl from some maple. Funny, as I was typing that, KZbin suggested that I write Maple Syrup. Of course that would be ridiculous since you can't turn maple syrup. Well, I guess technically you probably could if you froze it or something but I digress. Anyway, this was turned from a maple log. Half a maple log actually. In making a live edge bowl, the idea is to leave some of the bark on the bowl rim. Leaving stuff on the 'bowl rim' is usually a bad idea in most people's minds. But for a woodturner, its means leaving some brown crusty stuff on the rim. Hmmmm I guess its kinda the same after all. The difference is that this particular brown crusty stuff is tree bark. If you're leaving any other brown crusty stuff in a bowl rim you possibly have some unresolved issues from your childhood and you're gonna need to buy a toilet brush.
Getting back on topic, this was turned from some maple. It shows all the steps on how I turn a natural edge bowl. if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else please keep them to yourself.
