I turned my big bowl a couple years ago. Took a few pictures of my granddaughter inside of it. What fun!! Glad I got it out of my system!

Hi! Thank you for your comment! You have turned a really big bowl. It's not difficult, but a lot of work and thinking about attaching the blank carefully. Of course need a big lathe. Happy spring continuation from Finland! PS: If you know woodturners, I would be grateful if you would share my site! www.hitechedu.fi/woodturning/

Ah yes the massive Canadian built wood lathe made by Oneway you've made a very wise choice and a spectacular job on that huge bowl 👍

Excellent work on the bowl ....I am most impressed by your use of a chainsaw , so much i see on you tube is pretty scary ( I am a pro tree cutter for 25 + years ) you got the blank nice and round and took the edges off to save turning them off , I do all my work chainsaw to lathe .....

I turn larger platers on the outboard end of my lathe. Besides not being limited by the bed you can stand properly without being all twisted. I also rough out wet blanks, let them dry and then finish them. You had enough chisel over the rest that the leverage could break your wrist.

i would NEVER use a spindle roughing gouge on a bowl - asking for trouble. they are not designed to take the type of force bowl orientation demands.
@JarnoKorhonenWoodturning Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, it works best in large bowls. The fastest way to remove the excess chip from the blank.

Well, if the bowl doesn't sell you'll still be able to make your fortune in the guinea pig bedding market ;) Great job btw.

I would like to know why you didn’t core that huge bowl? One Way makes a great coring rig you could have made at least two more good sized bowls.

It`s spruce tree. The bowl has dried to oval shape in a week now. Diameter 595/555mm and hight 225mm. I'll make another video about sanding and surface treatment of the bowl soon.
