I totally agree with you all, the voice over is the best. I also saw the no voice over version and to tell you the truth I just didn’t like it, the piece was amazing, but the no voice was not for me. This is a learning channel if some people don’t like it, they can mute it or watch another channel, it will not be as good as this channel trust me. I have watched other channels and will not go back. Jim keep doing it your way and forget about the critics. God bless

I love these more "simple" style bowls. The epoxy bowls, hollowforms etc LOOK more intricate with all the different colours, but these with just inlays really let the wood do all the work and REALLY show off your turning skills! As for your ASMR videos... I would stop them. There are very few people who actually prefer them, and the VAST majority of us are here for you and your commentary. You provide huge amounts of detailed information about the process, but you also let us into your private life to a small extent and your personality and wit shine out! OK, that's enough praise!! Take care, Jim. Hope the latest house viewings work out for you and I'm looking forward to next week's pine cones! Cheers!

The inlay on the sides is so cool! I wonder if an inlay could be possible that is wiggly, like a snake, as it goes around the top of the bowl. Also, I think you could do a mini series on how you set up to be at a show. Discuss typical booth rental options, tables and stands you used, transporting products, how many products you brought, did you bring flyers and business cards, how long were the typical days at the events .. just everything.
@SpragueWoodturning6 ай бұрын
That would be a cool inlay. I will try to cover the show thing in the future. It kind of hard to do the setup thing without actually setting a booth up and I don’t do show anymore, but I will give it a go. Thanks for the suggestions!

😂😂😂 That end footage has me cackling, you're a good sport, Jim! It's always fun to have 2 bowls to compare in one video! These 2 are elegant and classic beauties. I love the chunkier inlay for the colour, lots of purple which I ADORE. I love the finer inlay for the texture, that beautiful, almost granite stone-like speckle and sheen. I love the colour and the spalting in the maple bowl, but I love the shape/profile and the chatoyance in the walnut bowl. It's impossible for me to pick a favourite because of loving completely different things about each one! What a spectacular pair, Jim, thank you for sharing these with us, and for chucking a good-natured giggle in at the end! I hope the posing was as fun for you as it looked!

Inlay ideas: I know you generally don’t like flat work; however, I was thinking you could do a clock with kintsugi inlay OR a bowl with kintsugi lines all around. Here is the scary part, prep a wooden bowl as usual THEn deliberately smash it on the driveway to get those random breaks. Alternatively, take a hammer to the side to create deliberate cracks! You may have to resin instead of CA glue to help the inlay along
@SpragueWoodturning6 ай бұрын
I’ve actually been debating doing this, lol. Won’t be able to do CA with this as you say. Thanks!

I got home yesterday from a long camping/cycling/road trip up north of Lake Superior. We wild camped on a beach up there, made up of piles of beautiful rocks, all sizes, smoothed by the lake. I collected about a gallon of small rocks, to use to line the beds of some river-charcuterie boards. On the way home, a few hours later, we drove past Petawawa. For those boards, I’m gonna need a bunch of epoxy…
