Yes. It is a gorgeous bowl, Seth. Loved the cinematic feel of the video, too. I will definitely check out the “Finisher”. I use a 40degree Mahoney bowl gouge called The Cleaner. It is terrible on the bottom. I end up using a scraper a lot of the time to get the transition and bottom smooth. The Finisher may be exactly what I need. Thanks. Take care. 😊🤝

Hiya Rob! Thanks buddy! I appreciate your kind words! Everything that you’ve ever found to be an issue on any other bottom bowl gouge seems to be addressed with Ashley’s gouge. There is ZERO vibration, and just a pleasure to use all around!

Goodness! Now you've got an EWT chuck! I'm gonna be upgrading to Vicmarc eventually. What bandsaw blade is that? I'm planning to go thicker and forget about cutting blanks round.
@BrickhouseCraftWorks2 жыл бұрын
LOL! I thought about going Vicmarc, but I liked the idea of the quick change jaws. That is the 1-1/4 Resaw King that I got when I bought the saw. I LOVE it but, MAN did it hurt the wallet!
@misfit47772 жыл бұрын
I love the quick change jaws idea but I have to say that the Vicmarc VM120 chuck is fantastic! Thinking of getting another chuck, maybe a VM100. Changing jaws is a PITA.. 🤔

How are you two liking the SB bolsters / handles setup?
@BrickhouseCraftWorks2 жыл бұрын
Haha! Precisely why I went the Easy Wood tools route.
@BrickhouseCraftWorks2 жыл бұрын
@@misfit4777 I absolutely love them! I had some hesitation about epoxying my tools to the bolsters but, I love that I can use all my tools on any of my handles. Plus, removing the tools to sharpen is much quicker.
@misfit47772 жыл бұрын
Cool to see the bottom bowl gouge in action. I like the design a lot, but since it's new few have experience and info about it. Lovely bowl, too. What length handle is that? I like longer handles, I'm finding and my Thompson 20" is longest I have other than a 3/4 Bosch I may use for this.
@BrickhouseCraftWorks2 жыл бұрын
Totally understand man, hopefully it helps you. Thanks for the kind words about the bowl! That is the 36” handle. I love it, but, I’d have been better off to remove the tail stock in order to use it with the bottom gouge. Just a tad too long for my bedways, unless I’d buy the extension…..which I may end up doing. 😂

Beautiful Seth. I’ve wondered if there were ratios or proportions that were supposed to be present with a traditional calabash. Also, I have your sticker. Did you ever get one from me?
@BrickhouseCraftWorks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug! We had a demo from Emiliano Achaval in WT360 where he talked about the history and proportions of a traditional calabash. To be frank, it was one of the best demos I’ve seen. Yessir, I did! You’re on my board! 😊

@@BrickhouseCraftWorks Hi Seth, It may not have been what you had intended but the end result is just astonishingly beautiful. Brilliant work and video Seth. How wet was the piece of wood as the streamers coming off the piece looked really wet. Take care my friend. Cheers, Huw

Thank you so much Huw for all of your support and kind words. It was fairly wet as I harvested the piece back in October. I didn’t check it with my meter but, if I had to guess, I’d say around 25% MC. Thanks buddy!
