That would be nice. It's still drying, so I'm hoping to have a few more of those "layers" delaminate from each other so they can be pried out.

Interesting. I have never seen a burl separate into rounds/layers like that. Orchard cherry, black cherry, or ?

great question, but I don’t know for sure. given where the shop I found it in was located (mid-Ohio) and the size of it, I’d guess Black Cherry.

Did you use the resin to stabilize the wood? I’m just curious, I don’t see any in the finished bowl.

No, it was very solid wood. I used the resin to create a place to cut a temporary mortise.
