I don't know what he is using - but water thin superglue works like that when applied to woody surface turning on a lathe. But he had his fingers on it as he applied so I don't know (I wear nitrile gloves when I do it). Anyway water thin superglue sets up instantly with super high gloss just like that (and we saw him using it earlier to glue the coconut to the base - again without gloves)
