Hi Peggy. Great looking bowl! Hope you don't mind if I pass along a quick tip. Embellishing cream/wax is designed to be applied over sanding sealer, or a finish rather then raw wood. You'll find that it goes on a lot more evenly and smoother. Allowing you to then wipe off the excess more cleanly, while keeping it only in the areas you want. V

Nice turning Peggy. I have been experimenting with Chestnut spirit stains. It's a lot of extra work, but as you show, well worth it. Sometimes I use DecoArt wax, and adding a little water, I can paint it on where there might be a little texturing. Don't know if it will work with yours. Safe turning young lady, thanks for the video.

I'm one of those that likes the natural color of wood but the way you color the wood always comes out nice. I just think something is to dark, I don't know if it's the earth or the dark blue. I have a request. Would you show a picture or 2 of the last bowl you did and finished with Danish oil after you get the Ack's on it please?

Thanks much! I'll try to get a good picture and post it! Thanks for watching!

I am JUST starting out on a lathe, (all I've really made is a lot of sawdust practicing) and I purchased the Ack's paste kit using your code. (Thanks!) The instructions say to keep it refrigerated, but it looks like you just keep it in a drawer. Is that an unnecessary precaution, or is your shop just cool enough not to bother?
@PFWoodturning4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I do not refrigerate mine. But then again I live in Maine and my basement is pretty cool.

Hi Peggy I always love your your work, and enjoy watching your creative talent. Blotchy is good, but this bowl is just too blotchy, particularly the rim. no problem, we all have our non-creative moments, and i am sure you will continue to WOW me with future designs. Thanks Barry (South Africa)
@PFWoodturning4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah, the rim did not turn out how I envisioned.... that’s how we learn though, right?
@jimnicholls74374 жыл бұрын
It looks like you didn't put any abrasive paste or polishing paste on the rim. Correct? It kinda looks unfinished.

Correct, that was the idea. Although I did put some of the polishing paste on near the end.

Beautiful figure in the bowl, with the colours brining it out. Like the texturing, but the light blue paste wax was inconsistent and spoiled the look for me. A bit too busy I think. Cheers.
