Welcome to this weeks woodturning video:
Woodturning - Never Been Done Before !!
In this woodworking video I use a woodturning lathe to turn a blank made with coloured card and epoxy resin into an art piece. I feel this video falls into the ASMR and entertainment categories.
If you find these video’s a good source of entertainment, I’d appreciate you like, share and subscribe.
Thanks for watching.

As I was watching this video, my wife walked by and was captured for the last two or three minutes. When she asked, "What is that?" I answered, "It's a finial for an antique hitching post." She walked away with a low "Hmmmnnn..." before I could add the part about the Unicorns... I guess it's just as well... Keep doing what you love!

As a polymer clay artist I am all about COLOR! I love watching woodturning videos for the artistry of the shapes, but I long to see more play with color. I’m sure purists are more interested in seeing wood only - and maybe rightly so! But I dig your vision here of working color and shape together. Really lovely to look at, it keeps my eye looking for details!
@JackMackWoodturning
@JackMackWoodturning 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy. I’d very much like to see your work. How can I do that? I am essentially a purist when it comes to turning and love nothing more than a piece made from a single piece of wood. However these videos are my opportunity to do something different to the day job so I play around with absolutely any ideas that seem possible. Regardless of wether it falls into the box of “what most woodturners like” the stuff I make here is about process over final piece. That being said, this final piece will be staying in our house as I love it too 😉

@@CalebBerman I say this as a confirmed Episcopalian Christian: please do not reply to people just to advertise our religion. It's extremely rude. You are essentially going, "What you said here doesn't matter, this is more important." And yes, life after death is important, but you can do this in a better way. If you want to do this, make your own separate comment. Even so, I advise against that, because it's again sort of saying that what you're commenting on isn't important. You're changing the subject without any sort of nod to whatever you're commenting on/replying to. A KZbin video is not a public message board in the middle of a sidewalk. Furthermore, _everyone and their mother knows what we're about and I'm frankly really sick and tired of hearing the same tired words over and over again._ At this point, not a single thing you could say online could convert someone to Christianity. And the way people tend to do so comes off as, in my opinion, "You're wrong, you're going to burn in Hell _unless_ you join my religion because my religion is the only right way to live." How would you like someone coming around and saying that to you? And from what I'm skimming, this is much the same. Frankly, in my opinion, this kind of stuff makes us sound like a bunch of brainwashed fanatics. You're pushing more people away than you're bringing in. The Internet needs no missionaries. People already know what's going on. They've already decided. Stop wasting your time and serve God by being kind to others, not essentially being spam mail.

@@JackMackWoodturning - As an object of the contemplation of beauty. It is its own justification for being, like staring into a multicolored candle flame. Evolutionists have explanations for the survival value that beauty provides. Beauty doesn't exist outside of the mind. We have invented it. You invent it every time you strap something onto the lathe. Something of beauty that starts in _your_ mind, is then shared with the minds of all the people who witness your finished work. @1.618_Murphy 2 жыл бұрын
@@JackMackWoodturning Thanks for asking. There's a decimal point between 1 & 6 btw! 1.618 is the approx value of a constant ф (phi), its exact value is (1+√5)/2 and is directly linked to *Fibonacci Sequence.* My name's last 3 alphabets together kinda sounds like this, that's why I put the number. It's actually a ratio, artists & mathematicians call it the *Golden Ratio.* It can be found in various things, from every life form to every cosmic creation. Ancient Greek sculptors and artists used to think that God specifically chose this number for his creations. So they also adopted it for their builds, from wooden furniture to rock sculptures! In their opinion, applying it makes the things look "perfect"! Da Vinci also used it in all of his paintings! Perhaps your creations are following the golden ratio without you even knowing it! @@JackMackWoodturning well, I suppose that it can be applied to different types and styles and for various occasions. A wedding ring, though, might be difficult, unless it is represents the 1960's or gay pride (respectfully). I am partial to mandelbrot fractal zoom, and those vibrant colors, that you you really brought out in your product, reminded me of some of my favorites Madelbrot fractals. I am also passionate about the Dendrobatidae family (like Dendrobates azureus, Denrobates, leucomelas, Phylobates terribilis, and even the red-eyed tree frog (Agalychnis callidryas). In nature, bold colors often represent aposmatic coloration, to avoid predation. Your color choices would certainly be a great application on the wooden spinning tops used by many of the children of the Philippines. That would be sobra mabuti. If I possesed one with those colors, it would be the envy of my girlfriend's province. The myriad of applications using these colors...and other shades...seem almost perpetual if hitting the correct genre. Your effort really paid off with this video.
