I appreciate the way you explain your methods as well as the odd mistake - like using containers that were too small when mixing your resins. It seems to me that you can save your subscribers from making drastic mistakes by explaining an error as you go. I think I might have an idea for the piece I would like to commission from you, assuming it is within your skill set. I would love to talk about a project, including materials and finishes after the holidays if that is convenient for you. I am imagining a piece made with dual media - resin and a slab of tiger maple or some similarly enchanting grained wood. I can picture a tray style piece that is shallow and quite large in diameter. I have a function in mind for the finished piece - a tray upon which I can keep my cooking oils and cooking liquids handy to the stove. Depending on your assessment of the idea, I would prefer very little depth to the object, with a very low rim around the outside and a small pedestal style base. Is there a ruby red or cobalt blue dye or stain you could use with the resin? Ever since I noticed your KZbin channel I have been daydreaming about this tray, as well as a mixed-medium charcuterie board. The more products I see you creating, the more enchanted I become by your skill. I do love the artisanship you put into your products. Your niece Sheena knows how to reach me if you are ever open for commissions. The last thing I want is to become a pest, but I am squirming with delight at the prospect of securing a commission. I've been in love with wood turning as an art form for just over 20 years although I have never owned a piece. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and prosperous new year.

Thanks for the comments and certainly able to do commissions if you aren’t in a rush. I still have a bit of a back log. I appreciate you watching.

WOW Fantastic. The colors are so rich, it looks like a deep red wine. How far down did you hollow and did you use any special tools. I’m just starting with epoxy and was wondering about the extra stabilizing process (which I don’t have). Would your project worked out just as good without stabilizing the wood. Thank you, your videos are great. I look forward to the next one.
@TheKlondikeCraftsman3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Michael, I drilled with in a half inch it so of the bottom and hollowed as much as I could with an Easywood tools hollower, but the neck it too narrow to hollow too much. Thank you for watching!

Beautiful!! Really like the final resin colors and the vase shape. Does the resin make the vase water proof?
@TheKlondikeCraftsman2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kathy! The resin itself is water proof but the wood is not. I could have coated the inside with resin to make I water proof. Thank you for watching!
@GordonRock14 жыл бұрын
Holy cow, Lewis. That is absolutely stunning! Question: you used red dye and also mica powder. Why do you use both? Hope you don’t mind my asking! I love that piece, Lewis. Have a Merry Christmas and a “better” New Year! 🎄🎄🎁🎁🎄🎁🎄🎁 All the best, .....Gord
@TheKlondikeCraftsman4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gord, thank for the kind words my friend! I use both dye and mica powders because I don’t want the finished resin to be transparent and this method darkens the resin. Dyes only would blend and make a different colour so I like a base dye in the colour I want then the mica powders really just give it a marbled or swirl effect that I prefer. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours as well. Thanks for watching and always taking time to comment, I appreciate it!

Vase looks Great 👍🏽 Do you always have to stabilise any timber if you cast it in resin? Also can you stabilise using your pressure pot? Sorry for all the questions. Mark 😊
@TheKlondikeCraftsman4 жыл бұрын
If you dont stabilize the wood will move and the resin will not. even stabilized wood can move some depending on the size if it. I always dry wood to 0% and stabilize before I cast it to help as much as I can. Thank you for watching.
