Absolutely love it! And such a smart idea to make the bulb the rocket exhaust. You could decorate a whole study all around this lamp

Loving this, you’ve clearly given it a great deal of thought, I think the rocket looks the biz I’ would myself of designed a more dynamic looking stand to complement the overall aesthetic but that my opinion for what it’s worth. One other point you can get led switches with a dimmer to take the edge of the brightness which at the moment dominates and allows for a more subtle effect. But overall you should be pleased with your results! 👍👍👍

Wow, that is awesome! I think you have a great engineering mind to be able to piece all of that together to make the different contours of grain add to the beauty. The different stain colors really accent the piece also. I really get nervous when you drill the holes,but you are very accurate on your measurements. Another great artistic piece to enhance any desk and bring conversation to a room. Great job!

Thanks George! As for the drilling holes…haha me too. There is a lot of thinking and checking that happens off camera as there is no undo button. Sometimes I’ll make templates or practice pieces and try to think of alternatives ahead of time in case something goes wrong. That being said I definitely make mistakes or the methodology may be unconventional 🙃. Ether way, every project I’m learning something new.

What do you use to finish the wood?
@TurnedOutGood Жыл бұрын
Hi Eli, Generally speaking it depends on the project, but this what I'm using at the moment. If I can use the lathe speed to get a polish then sometimes I'll use a wax product. E.G At the moment I'm using beeswax based product called Briwax (amzn.to/3I8hveo), or I'll even just use boiled linseed oil (amzn.to/3FYnRKr). These are very forgiving in terms of application as you won't get runs etc, but they don't have the durability or hold luster of other finishes. As many of my projects have smaller more intricate pieces I'll often end up using some kind of clear spray paint such as (amzn.to/3WtpXsS), polyurethane (amzn.to/3D3wp1T) or lacquer (amzn.to/3GX8pid). These are more durable finishes but can be difficult to apply as they are prone to runs/drips if you don't get your spray distance/speed quite right. Hope that helps.

I can’t believe you used glue. What will happen to people who want to drink the rocket fuel?
@TurnedOutGood Жыл бұрын
This is true 🤔 It was mainly so it doesn’t blast off into my face at high speeds.
