Woodturning - The Checkered Wood

In this weeks woodturning video we combined Pine and Mahogany to make a Checkered pattern vase. I've seen a lot of comments on glue up jobs so I thought I'd put together another one as people have an interest for them.
The glue in the video is Titebond Polyurethane glue, which I find is the best for glue up jobs and sets pretty quickly too. If you have any other woodturning ideas then put them in the comments and we'll see if we can get them done!

Oh my goodness!!! Wow, wow, wow! I absolutely love this one. It's my favorite so far. I've been under the weather so I've missed a couple videos. I'll get to catch up on the this afternoon, hopefully. Watching you create art is inspiring to me. I ordered some crochet hooks so I can make some throws, baby blankets, and/or blankets which I haven't done in a few years. And it's all because of you!💞

A great project Ian! A real inspiration as well although I'm somewhat hampered by not having a bandsaw. Still I guess I could make a box from a glue-up like this. May give that a try when I find the time for it. I also like your extended use of the spindle roughing gouge, one of the most underestimated tools in woodturning. However, I must admit: yours is bigger than mine. 😎

Sorry Huw, didn’t see this until now! The glue is Titebond Polyurethane, think I got it from Axeminster but I’ve seen it around quite a lot, would highly recommend it.

It doesn't have to be poly. You could use carpenters glue, hide glue or epoxy. As long as the joint faces are flat and true, just about any glue would be fine.
