Thanks Adrian. I turned this first one expecting to do some batches of them and realized I'm out of small wood!

Time to put Harry on a diet if he is eating up the inventory before you can even turn it. 🤣

That's stunning with the color of the wood from the wax and the bark. Harry was in heaven. Saw Daniel's comment, happy belated birthday Robert! Thanks for sharing your creativity with me again. Stay safe, Vickie

Nice piece, Robert. Sizing that jam chuck would have taken me about the same amount of time as this entire video!
@HodgePodgeWoodWorks3 жыл бұрын
Haha Steve, once you do it a few times you'll get the hang of it.
@valeriehenschel15903 жыл бұрын
Hope those bug tracks are from dead critters. Or do you charge extra for supplying the included protein? 🤣🤣🤪 Perhaps this one was to be a treat for Harry? Good demo of a craft show item.

My wife actually thought you were making a pot to keep your weed in. 🤣😂🤣

Looks great, Robert. Harry looked like a hippie (does that date me?) with all those shavings on his head. Take care. Bill
@HodgePodgeWoodWorks3 жыл бұрын
Well I've heard of hippies but have never seen one in the wild before.

I was hoping you were going to leave the base flared out but alas I was wrong. Maybe next?

I have a roughly 6" long 3/4" Morse taper bit from CS that makes drilling those out easier and doubles as a better jam chuck to finish the bottom. Good speed. I turn way too slow.
@treeforge3 жыл бұрын
What was your finish? Also if you sold this at a Christmas craft show, what price do you think it would sell all day for? Nicely done sir 👏
@HodgePodgeWoodWorks3 жыл бұрын
Here's a link to the finish. You just rub it on and buff it off! Depending on the craft show I'd probably sell in the range of $20-30. www.rockler.com/hut-lite-turning-wax?country=US&sid=V91040&promo=shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv5uKBhD6ARIsAGv9a-zQlc0WVr-HphW5UH9IJyDo4lVwJUvwrtUtAR2aDL2gChSlQdL1gWUaAsSfEALw_wcB

Wish you did some sort of narrative to go along with your excellent video. Viewers are missing out on a great deal. Image if at the show when you made a pen the instructors did not talk? Instead they pointed to video monitor.
@HodgePodgeWoodWorks3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Ken. I've done a few more instructional sort of videos in the past. I typically go back and forth between entertainment and how-to videos.

Fun project. QQQ: Do you always use dry wood (8-10%) or have you had good results with freshly cut?
@DancingFox63 жыл бұрын
I don’t know about everyone else, but personally I have a nicely turned little weed pot in my shop that’s split wide open down one side. I keep it out as a reminder to make allowances for moisture content 🙄.
@HodgePodgeWoodWorks3 жыл бұрын
I expect this to crack and I'll make any potential customer aware of the fact that it might. I'll have dried ones which have cracked around to display as well.
