I'll be honest with you, I would never have applied all those finishes if I thought to wood was cooperating. But I think the wood was too wet when I turned it. So, when I had to leave it sit overnight, I made sure there was a thick layer of wax over it. I would probably do it differently now. Cheers!

I do enjoy your videos very much. The sound of your lathe and cutting tools is all I need. Very therapeutic and calming. I am always fascinated about wood carving. When I was young, I used to watch carvers doing it manually, Yes manually and since then the evolution of machine helped the carvers do the job perfectly. Hats off. God given skills.

Well I definitely didn’t know there would be that much spalting but when left in log form logs tend to get more color, and in the case with softer woods, color often comes in the form of spalting.

I like woodworking in general but my favourite is wood turning. In Cyprus we have trees with fantastic grain and shapes and when I start to work on a piece I never know what will be the final product. This is so especially with olive wood where there is hidden beauty. When I watch work like yours I only wonder what would be the result if my wood was in your hands. Magnificent work.
