Handy guide for watching this video: 1. Watch the video, enjoying the use of sarcasm, being aware that the uploader is not being serious as this was posted on April Fools Day. 2. Understand that both woodwind and brass have their own advantages and disadvantages, and that none are 'better' than the other. 3. AVOID THE COMMENT SECTION AT ALL COSTS!!! All the comments are about how [insert instrument or section here] are/is better than [insert instrument or section here], with an utter lack of self-awareness that makes me want to live in isolation on a mountain, estranged from human contact, for the rest of my miserable life. Thank you for reading and have a nice day, unless you're a string player.

SHE, because most woodwinds are girls. Not tryna say anything about girls, just saying that woodwinds dont have that smooth sound like brass. Question: how do you get an oboe/clarinet in tune? There are "serious" brass players out there who consider the modern trumpet to be a toy. Probably because it's so much easier to play than the old Natural Trumpet, or the early valved trumpet in F.

Thank you - that made me laugh. I'm a sax player, I admit it's a crazy instrument. Choosing reeds is a hobbit hole, and there's a fuss over serial numbers instead of just playing the damn thing. The sax would have faded into obscurity had it not been for Charlie Parker, Lester Young, and the likes who explored it to such heights that the instrument became synonymous with jazz... Adolphe Sax wanted an instrument that had the throw of a brass instrument, with the facility of a flute's finger system, and the answer that struck was to turn the clarinet's cylindrical bore into a conical one, and the strange fingering turned into the flute's system. The sax was invented, while brass instruments evolved, it's really lovely... Your channel is awesome, love your enthusiasm, your erudite explanations and the astounding collection. It's really timbre, isn't it? The _sound of the sound_, that makes us love the instrument, whether one's strumming a shoe-string or playing a Church organ. P.S. Your t-shirt rocks - one doesn't hear symphonies out of a motorcycle exhaust, it's the same damn beat and we can hear it for hours on end...

You are hilarious Trent! I have heard some really beautiful pieces played on woodwinds by accomplished musicians but agree that that the real music comes from the brass. I am playing trumpet in a small local orchestra and I commented just last week that the woodwinds, and even the strings, are only useful for creating a framework for hearing the trumpets. Thank you for a great channel. God bless.
