Piece after piece we kept cutting and destroying, both me and Israel. And I’ve cut hundreds of pieces before. Couldn’t figure out why we kept breaking so many pieces until….
How much does a cheap cutter cost? Sometimes it costs hundreds of dollars in unusable laminated glass. But you know what? We finally figured it out. Israel was using my new $10 cutter because it was new. I asked him if he tried his and he said yes. But when I tried his old one (and better one) over my cheaply deapy, the difference was obvious. So I went with it. Night and day. And it worked out.
School costs money. Now I have an experiential lesson that taught me without a shadow of a doubt that there is a difference in glass cutters. With normal everyday glass I still don’t think it would make a difference, but this time, with laminated glass, it did.
Today I went to school and you get to benefit from the lesson.

Your suppose to snap the side you cut before you flip so it doesn’t run like that.

Thank you for all you do. I’m rebuilding all 24 double hung, 6 over 6 and 8 over 8, in our 1938 house and you’ve been a great help. On window eight and improving with each one. Good thing I began with the windows in the back. Thank you again. The windows needed some love, deserved some love and thanks to your inspiration they are getting some love. I could not afford the $2,000 per window the pros were asking-without paint. We’ll just keep after it.

If the pros are asking $2000 a window without paint, then they aren’t pros. They are getting people to pay them for being mediocre

Awesome video! I just started a new job a couple months ago. working for a custom door manufacturer. working with glass every day… although we don’t have to cut it, it’s good to learn more about…👍

It’s always good to learn more! That’s what this video is all about - the way I learn. The school of hard knocks, when a person sticks with it, is one of the best schools out there. Good luck with they door job!

Thanks for this video. What is the liquid in the spray bottle and why did you ignite it and then not again?
@WoodWindowMakeover
@WoodWindowMakeover Жыл бұрын
The liquid is denatured alcohol. It dissolves the membrane between the glass. Sometimes I light it out of habit, and I used to think that it was the heat that caused the membrane to melt, but the alcohol alone does it just fine. But lighting it on fire is still cool.

Well we had this left over from another job and wanted to use it up. As might be apparent from the video, we gonna have to order some cut to size ourselves.

@@WoodWindowMakeover no problem sir . Just by experience , in general , when it’s a Diamond , it has only one direction for holding the tool. I have a German one : not easy :))
