Your projects are 'wood art'. On your stereo furniture piece, it was genius to hang those doors on aluminum track with the rollers. The canvas backed tambour rollup brought back memories. Out of oak, I built seven wall-hung cabinets with split tambour doors that rolled horizontally. The sixty-inch-wide cabinets hang over the individual birthing room beds in our local hospital and hide the oxygen and other mechanicals involved in the birthing process. After working for the hospital for twenty-one years, I've been retired for sixteen years now, and those rooms are still being used and the tambour doors are still functional. Building all the cabinets for those seven rooms is one of my most prideful projects.

I really like how you do the basic cabinet frame. So clean and simple. No pocket holes or anything. Hey, I went into the Goodwill store in Brookvale the other day and picked up a solid oak buffet/sideboard for $65 😁. Really good quality with dovetailed drawers etc. and good condition. Just a bit dated. Weighs a ton. No idea what the cost of all that oak would be, but it would be a LOT more than $65. Will be an awesome up-cycling project. 👍

White oak is one of my favorites for dark finishes as well as washes and bleaching. The grain is just so distinctive. It also has the benefit of being quite strong and durable, so you know anything you make will last generations. The only real downside to white and red oak is that they're quite a nuisance to route and any of your hand tools need to be quite sharp to be able to cut cleanly into the wood.
