When I had an idea as a home builder, I had to build the structure or project in my mind before I could even commit it to paper. I would make changes and adjustments as I was drawing. Then make real world adjustments as I was building it. As amazing as your skills are, and as amazing as your finished pieces are, what boggles my mind his that this piece actually started as a thought, an idea. The best and most important tool in your shop is your mind. Remarkable!

I’ve never done any woodwork, so i don’t need a workbench. Now, the first and only thing i want to build is this bench.

You should have stopped at the charred wood bed head and repeated the process on the legs. Bending the wood into impossible shapes is just that... Impossible. None of that here, perhaps ridiculous shapes a more appropriate title

why not just make a mortise and tenon and make the bed side rails thinner? This wasnt an issue at all

Not really just a fan of the second one because it gives off trypophobia vibes to me, but the third one is absolutely gorgeous and I really like the first one, i find it very beautiful . If I had to give it an order it be third, first, and second. But that last piece is truly _breathtaking,_ Congratulations on creating something so stunning.

This isn't just a craft; it's a gift. Plus the shop is so well organized. Love, love, love. My favorite tool is a hand planer; the sound of the wood peeling and the aroma(s)! The best cologne, ever :)

I was a home builder for more years than I care to remember and always prided myself in using different materials and unique placement to add beauty and functionality. This work bench amplifies my love of detail and becomes a work of art. Watching this build was an experience. You Sir are a true craftsman/ artist. I can't wait to see more.

Good to see you using that injured hand so effectively! Inspirational! I too have suffered broken bones, and numerous cuts and even ruptured tendons so my arms/hands show it but we can continue! well done!

In a piece like the corner with multiple pieces and grain in going in multiple directions, how do you account for wood movement?
@TheScanonDub8 күн бұрын
You could have used the old fashioned coach bolts to hold the bed parts together. This would make it more mobile to move and easier to get up narrow staircases. The 2nd insert in the headboard could have been more effective with a copper wax finish. just a thought.

Skip the negative tangents and focus on simple techniques ?
@koolBOY83238 күн бұрын
nah this isn't overkill. overkill would have been adding a push button lithium battery powered motor to the motorcycle jacks so you don't have to get on the floor and crank em up yourself.

One of the best looking workbenches I’ve ever seen. Who cares what anyone else says. My tools need to look their best so that I enjoy using them. I would never want to leave the shop if I had that in my shop. Hopefully I will be able to get to that point that I would be so blessed. Congratulations dude!! Absolutely awesome!!
