Wingnut, I am 73 and still making smalls from reclaimed pallets. Since I work in a plant maintenance dept. my supply of wood is endless. Was overwhelmed with request for squirrel feeders and childrens picnic tables. Doing those projects did a great deal in boosting my sense of worth and actually kicked the "old man" from my life. thank you Jim B

Wingnut - For a live edge hanging shelf I took a live edge board, cut it into three different lengths (about 9", 11" & 13") and drilled a hole in the back of each dead center. Then I put a Hillman 3 prong nut in the hole and screwed in a hanger bolt (bolt on one end and lag bolt on the other). Simply drill a hole in the wall where the stud is and "screw" the shelf into the wall until flush. I wrapped them together with twine to sell as a set with a typed note card with the instructions (hole size to drill is important). Scrap turned shelves. (You know how to tell who's a woodworking dad. Lots of keys, probably on a carabiner, and can't stop making shelves.) Thanks for all the great vids. Keep going all you sawdust addicts. Vitamin W is good for the body.

I’ve been here for a long time, and here is what happened I spent so many hours and days watching your stuff and it kept me so motivated. Then, I let life get in the way of my woodworking and like an idiot, stopped watching your videos. I stopped wood working soon after and stopped making money A few days ago, I began watching again and not ironically, I have dive deep back into my craft. Now I have watched this video, I can’t describe how I’m even more pumped about building and designing after watching this one. What a great video! I’m back for good and will be here daily. Wingnut. As many others have said, your inspirational messages are as or more important than your projects. Younger generations more than ever need that encouragement. I did the same with my kids and grandkids. I'm old and technically retired but anyone in my situation will tell you that "retired" just means that you're busier than before, hopefully doing what makes you happy. I have a CNC machine and many of your projects can be knocked out super fast and easily repeated. Doing what makes me happy!

Matt, I loved what you were saying at the beginning of the video. We always taught our daughter, that there is no such thing as can't. In fact I have a card on my fridge that reads, "the only thing you can't do, is the thing you haven't tried". And, yes I read that often, because I go to the fridge more than I should. My wife liked the plant swing, not to hot on the clothes rack. May try a couple anyway.

Wingnut. I'm a 63 yo female, retired last year. I've always been a crafter, but I started watching videos like yours and those that rip apart pallets and make amazing things and I would love to have a workshop. We went to an auction a few weeks ago and I got a working craftsman table saw for $20! I already have a mitre saw I bought a few years ago to update my kitchen cabinets and for Christmas my husband bought me a small circular saw because I complained that his was too heavy for me. We picked up some free pallets recently and they certainly don't come apart as easily as in the videos! Some we had to cut nails, some we had to cut the slats, and yesterday we had one that I knew if we tried to take anything off it we were going to split the wood for sure. So I took my circular saw and cut the whole thing in half. It is now the cutest sides to my new strawberry bed, looks like a picket fence! I love watching your videos, and I may start to make things to try and sell, but first I have to make everything I want!

What Matt said in the beginning is so true! 11 years ago when I started building furniture I had the thought that I wanted to build custom furniture and cabinetry for the million dollar homes/customers. I was constantly told I couldn’t and shouldn’t even try. Even by loved ones. Well, nowadays my customer base is predominantly exactly what I wanted to do. Building custom woodworks for “the rich”. Had I given up or listened to the naysayers I would not be doing what I’m doing. As Matt says, you HAVE to believe in yourself!

Funny as a wingnut!...When this video first started playing, I paused it and mentioned to my wife that I always get a ton more than "just" woodworking out of watching you; that a lot of what you say beyond instructions is applicable throughout life, rather than just in the shop. Then, you immediately turned around and said, almost verbatim, the exact same thing I'd just told her! I'm coming on 62 and looking to retire very soon...life at sea has lost its' luster!...woodworking has always been an interest of mine, even if I'm not terribly good at it, but I intend to put in a lot of practice in the near future! Stay Safe!

Wingnut, ty for creating this space for us. I never miss a video of yours and have tried almost every project you have presented. I have expanded my business to 2 cities, and have hired my nephew to help me build. It was your inspiration that convinced him that woodwoking wasnt a nerdy venture, and he is a natural at it. He will go far. Thank you for being you

Wingnut. Loved your opening speech. I'm working on the confidence to get in my shop and have it make money for me. Right now it's a catch all! Pool gear, Halloween props, and just crap. I've had a lot happen to me the past few years including losing my father. Can't seem to get ME back. Love what you do and your message.

I was in a very similar situation and can wholeheartedly relate to your position. Let me tell you. Go make something, anything! Whether its a path to the table, or the little succulent swing, get in your shop and do it! Make a little room today, make a little more tomorrow. Your father will absolutely be thrilled to see you pick yourself up, and he can say to all the other fathers in heaven above, that's my son! Instead of thinking "I'm not good enough" try "I'm not good enough, but I know that if I do these things I will be." Hope that helps you.

Wingnut, I am a 41 year old who has always been interested in building smalls I enjoy it. My problem was always confidence though (which sucks cause I've noticed my daughter being the same way) it wasn't until I started watching your channel that I've realized I can do alot more than I ever thought I could. Your channel has helped my mind and confidence grow (which in turn has helped my daughter as well) I appreciate you and your channel so much so thank you. OFF TO THE SHOP FOR THE NEXT BUILD

Wingnut. I started watching your videos 2-3 years ago and you got me hooked. I knew I wanted to make things to sell but didn't know what. Then I saw one of your "smalls" videos. It wasn't so much what you were specifically suggesting to make but rather the concept. I went all in and have not looked back. I started an Etsy shop 16 months ago. I had no luck on FB or at a local pop-up market. I started with some wood crafty items but then added some bird and squirrel feeders. The original items still haven't sold but the feeders took off, pun intended. I added some jack o' lanterns last July and they sold well, too. The feeders and jack o' lanterns are all made from cedar fence pickets. I've sold almost 450 items since I started. I average 25-30 sales a month. I was hoping the wood crafty items would sell. I had no idea the feeders would be so popular. They sell all year, too. Bird houses are more seasonal, unless they're intended to be decorative. Birds and squirrels gotta eat all year. I sold 66 feeders last November. 25 over the Thanksgiving weekend alone. I had over 30 orders in January. Thanks for the inspiration, Matthew. I am so glad I discovered your channel.

Wingnut. I'm an aspiring woodworker and I am nearly finished building my first all hand tools workbench strictly using hand tools. It has been a challenge in the SE Texas heat this summer without A/C, but I'm nearly there. I've made various pieces of outdoor and indoor furniture for friends and family, but I'm contemplating taking it to the next level with farmer's markets and what not. I don't have any stock built up yet, but I'm inspired by your videos and hope to take some of your ideas as inspiration for my own projects. Thank you for what you do Mr. Peech. I really enjoy your content and the way you convey your ideas and methods.
