Car paint is a easy break, and oil, a 1.4 needle is all ya need. Latex is a different monster, got to thin, not to thin and big needle. Spray tec I use #6 and now a #7. Big as they come for speed. Can be shooting chunks, turn needle down and air up. Hvlp is not a ole 55/60 air gun, different concept. Binks Mach 2 gun best ever made for oil, airless top with air assist with special airless tip, cad a lac for so many reasons. I own two, driven by 10 to 1 air motor pump

Just one thing though in your edit when you go to b-roll and have music it took my head off, I think it was the mitre station build. Ideally you want the sound to be between -6 and -12db and never peak to red/yellow 👍🏻

karlpopewoodcraft is it like a small pop sound you’re hearing? If so and no idea how to do this on a phone, but it’s cause of the cut between frames, you have to fade the sound of each clip in and out of both of them - I take my hat off to you getting results like you’re getting from editing on a phone 🤯 I’d suggest trying iMovie for Mac it’s free - there’s free software for pc but it’s really difficult to use! Wish I could post a pic here to show you what I mean 😬

I am amazed at your perserverence. I too have worked as "the working wounded" know that space well. I thought I had somewhere, maybe in an other video maybe the chisels for carpentry I can’t remember I’m sure I have somewhere cause I’m fed up with seeing all the nerds going way over the top about it. I pretty much don’t sharpen, I put a fresh bevel on and every now and then when I feel the edge dulling I give the micro bevel a few pulls on the 8000 and keep going till that micro bevel is right up the primary bevel, then regrind and start the process all over. I love it! Looks to me like a great idea for any hybrid shop or chairmaker. Too wide for my needs, but if I didn’t require that space for my shavehorse, I’d consider it. Like I said, certainly would be nice for chairmaking in my opinion. I don’t have a tablesaw or powered miter saw, so it’s not like I could justify it as an outfeed. I think it’s a wonderful tool brother; if you’re happy and it meets your purpose, then rock on!

Thank you Dan, I originally made a wall hung tool cabinet cause I wanted to keep the dust off of the tools and quickly out grew that one (wasnt anything special mind) decided to make a better one (you've probably seen) and I still dont shut the bloody doors lol I'm seriously thinking of making a completely different version, a nice looking cabinet but on the ground though, with only drawers, with everything having its own home, I think thats a much better idea - its a right pita to clean the wall idea bud....

That Festool dado track saw is cool as hell! I didn't know they made one for woodworking, I've seen a similar one but it seemed intended for specific man-made materials. It also didn't appear in any of Festool's US catalogs.

They're two items, HK85 and the grove cutter maybe thats why? Strange that, maybe cause the US wouldn't be a big market for them Ive no idea - I think its better in a track saw than in a table saw and I have both.

I'm not saying that you are the only one to use a backup board dovetailing but you are definitely the only one I have ever seen on youtube to use it and I was taught that years ago in France for the very reason you stated. One tip if I may suggest: the use of Gorilla Glue is not all that good in terms of strength. It has been proven that due to its pores condition when setting up it loses some holding strength and regular carpenters glue is still be better of all the glues in holding power. look it up on youtube Matheus has a good video on this test of glues. Beautiful work by the way, as usual. I missed the music.

Thank you Dan, its more a case of set time and open time why I use it, a 5 min set time is very useful to me cause I can get on, or a 45 min open time compared to 5-10 pva in summer - that has caused me some problems along the way, glue-ups are stressful enough... Unfortunately ive had to cancel my subscription to epidemic sound, money's to tight to mention and some pros have said my edits with my music im using music as "wall paper" - still a lot to learn on the editing side bud, sound design is very complicated, I can only get better at least haha. I know your time is precious but I have to say that so many like myself love music and your videos are really good in content, timing, and compositions. there will always be those who just can't help themselves in negative criticism perhaps it is best to turn off the comment side of things here. you have a great talent both in woodworking, video creation, and editing, and your music selection that add to your videos so much. It would be a pity if a few negative comments keep you from your music and there are plenty of royalty-free music on the net I know I use them all the time in my videos. as for the money, the side is a concern if you keep up what you doing here on youtube you'll make all the money you need. The use of oak and pine for the top to make an effective and cost effective work surface is the perfect example of how well thought out this bench is. Absolutely mind-blowing. First, the precision of the woodworking is fantastic. Truly what most of us aspire to do. The video bits are also impressive. I have two cameras but really only use one cause my workshop is small, I just move the camera around remembering where where my hands were and try keeping the shots centre third framed so the edit looks better and flows. Not gonna lie, easily triples the build time. Then for every minute of final edited film its taken between 4 to 6 hours of editing to do, so say a 30 min film about 120 to 180 hours have gone into it just editing. So you can see why I so appreciate your complement! I just wish my vids would do as well as they do on IGTV, most of my vids get 100-500k views there 🤷🏻‍♂️ I prefer here for the widescreen format though.

I would love to know more about how you get the mirror finish on the back of your chisels

Its a long boring process, first of all flatten the back with a stone of some kind, water, oil or diamond stone. For flattening I use a 1000 grit stone once you can see its flat because all of the back has no shine to it then move up the grades 1000 to 3000 to 8000 then polish with a strop or MDF and polishing compound. If you find you get to the end and still have scratch marks you havent spent enough time on one of the grits so have to go back. With out doing this though you'll never get your chisels scary sharp. If Ive said something that doesnt make sense let me know?

@@HewAndAwe thanks, I assumed that was it. I have been going from a 1k stone straight to a leather strop (Paul Sellers approach). It gets a sharp edge, but not the mirror back. The strop can't take out the 1k scratches over the entire back, so I suspected I needed take smaller grit jumps. Cheers.

Chris Targett a strop is okay when you’re at that point but if the leather is too thick I find it’ll round over the business end you’ll notice a fine shinny line at the tip of the chisel looking at the back of that has happened, is why I use MDF and compound, I use the green solid compound or menzerna 400 liquid compound. But all said and done if you’re going to then sharpen that won’t be the case and take away that rounded edge. 👍

I only spray water when using polyurethane glue, for no other reason than that’s what it says to do on the tin, I think it helps penetration. 👍

If I remember rightly youre talking about the top section? That top is so heavy that it needs to be manageable by one person also for future I can put them all back through the thicknesser. I used Festools connector sets to pull them together.

Hi Ash, hope youre well! If I recall right I was using PU glue which needs water, can be used without but for a better bond a dusting of water is needed, I think it helps the glue penetrate deeper too.👍

Yeah, it’s the VN-HK85 Festool part and made only for the HK85 Festool saw, it’s a beast - can cut from 16mm to 25mm in 0.5mm increments, I wish it could do 12mm though. Call it one of those had to much to drink late at night buys 😂

Great build. You've got some skills and patience. I promise I'm only suggesting this to help your channel grow, not trying to be negative, but you should try to keep the volume levels more equalized. The voice-over volume to the rest of the build is little jarring when I turn it up to hear your voice and a few seconds later there's a super loud sound of a saw or something. You deserve more subscribers, you do quality work and show different methods for some things than a lot of other channels on KZbin. Thanks for sharing!

In that other short video my phone has the issue when it switches from speech to music at the end around 3:45 but it's possibly because I have to turn it up more on my phone (without headphones) to hear your voice clearly. I can hear your voice lower but I can't make out the words very well, it could be my speaker though. When I get free time I will watch your other videos and let you know how they are if you would like? I appreciate your response. I've been through depression myself, having something you love doing helps tremenduusly. Woodworking has done a lot for me, and videos like yours help me with that. Thank you and take care! 🍻

I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great kzbin.infoUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.
