What a day to go, the weather was terrible!! But it did make for some awesome film footage. Really enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone dispute getting socked #Bruntingthorpe #ColdWarJets

If I won the lottery, I know what I'd do. I'd buy the site back from those car people and do fast taxis again.

Wouldn't that just be an awesome thing to do 👍

I was at a house in gilmorton very near to the end of the runway and these planes shook the house down!

We went to the one in May and it was great. Lots of access to the aircraft as well, they are not behind barriers. We got to sit in a fair few cockpits. A nice event with lots of enthusiasts. The weather was a lot better for us as well! :-)

Remember seeing Lightnings fly regularly at airshows my Dad used to take to me as a lad. Insane climb rate too. Some years ago a Buccaneer was at a RAF Valley airshow and i stood with a small group of folk the following day watching the display aircraft leave. The Buccaneer went off fairly quite and mundane (so i thought) when one young woman said, "just wait and watch this" as the Buccaneer circled round, came up from behind us, then whacked it with full after burners. Glorious sight and the noise was shattering. Turned out the guy piloting was the womans husband!

Wow, that's quite an interesting story . I am very jealous of you being able to of seen the Lightnings fly. Sadly for me I was about 2 years old when the RAF retired them, so unless I take a trip to Thunder City this is the closest I'll ever get to seeing one fly

@@SteveDentonClassics I'm afraid Thunder City days are over.......since 2009 after their Lightning crashed at an airshow killing the pilot, Dave Stock. Investigation found 'major shortcomings in maintenance'. www.caa.co.za/Accidents%20and%20Incidents%20Reports/8706.pdf

Thanks for sharing Steve. We came especially over from the Netherlands for that day. Too bad about the weather but it gave the opportunity to make some special shots with the spray on the runway. Did you take shot of what happened with one of the Jet Provosts ? By that time we were warming ourselves up in the car with some hot coco :)

Now that's some dedication coming all that way!! Unfortunately not, we had the same idea, it was getting too wet so we re positioned the car closer to the runway so I could get out film and run back. We missed the Victor as once we'd seen the Lighting we just wanted to go home. It was all worth it thou with the spray and noise they make, theirs nothing like it

Ah same idea then. Pity you missed the Victor. What a beast! My pictures can be found here by the way. facebook.com/franknoortnl/

It was quite a day, we we're going to take the Dolomite and make it Cold War Jets with Cold War Cars day. Only while the Dolomite is being unreliable at the moment it just wasn't worth getting stranded with it. Hopefully next time We'll get the Firenza and Dolomite to this one and make a proper film out of it

We didn’t wait around for it as it was just getting silly with the weather and the long drive home
