Coats and jackets have always seemed difficult and sort of a mystery to me. Thank you for such a thorough explanation and instructions on how to construct the adorable coat. I do love those pockets and top stitching details. Small details with bi impact.

Thank you, I'm glad you like the pockets, I wasn't sure how popular they'd be. I just love these kind of details to make something nice and individual, without being too obvious! Yes you would assume it's difficult, and it is a lot of work, but if you break it down, it's definitely easier than you'd think. One of the key things is fabric, using a natural fibre like wool gives you such a nice finish.

Would a bound buttonhole be less fiddly? I must go back and watch your pattern drafting video... Thanks for doing these tutorials.
@creativebobbin423 күн бұрын
They’re not as fiddly as they look. The problem with machine stitched buttonholes is going through 2 layers of very thick fabric, which can be a nightmare! I do machine buttonholes if the fabric isn’t so thick.
@tonileggate3 күн бұрын
@@creativebobbin42 The bound buttonhole is only 2 layers of fabric sewn right sides together. So 1 layer less than you were sewing. The excess fabric is trimmed later once the buttonhole has been formed. It is not a machine stitched buttonhole. Just machine sewn in a very similar way to your version.

@@tonileggateI think we’ve got our wires crossed. I was referring to an automatic machine stitched buttonhole, which is difficult on such thick fabric.

Great video 🤗 Where do you purchase your interfacing??
@creativebobbin425 күн бұрын
Thank you. I just got this from a local shop. I imagine if you search for woven interfacing on Ebay they'll have something similar.

Thank you so much. New to your channel. What kind of sew in interfacing do you use?
@creativebobbin42Күн бұрын
Hello, the one I use here is called hair interlining. It’s not necessary to use this particular type, but it has a great weight for my heavy wool.

What lining did you used for a wool coat? Thank you
@creativebobbin423 күн бұрын
I just used a very basic polyester lining for this one. I tend to use an acetate satin if the wool is not so heavy.
