Using a thinner formula in the cavities is bad advice. And we have thinner formulas, so it's not about "the sale". Some people tell us that they use the Woolwax™ for the undercarriage and some thinner (and smellier) brand for the cavities because they think it creeps better. That’s just not accurate. The traditional Woolwax™ creeps and migrates just as well and leaves a much thicker coating than a thinner formula. It may take us a bit longer to get there, but Woolwax™ will travel to all the same nooks and crannies and leave a much thicker surface build on the way. On enclosed areas surface build is everything. Thin formulas will creep and the surface build gets thinner all along the way until the coating is so thin, there is almost no surface build to provide protection. Bottom line.... original thick Woolwax™ (or any viscous coating) will provide better protection for enclosed areas (frame rails, etc.) than thin formulas that leave a very fine surface build. We manufacture a thinner version called Woolwax™ “LV” (low viscosity) for those that insist on thinner product. But we don’t promote it much because it is not necessary, and will not perform as well. If for some reason you really want to thin out Woolwax™ for the inner cavities, all you need to do is add a bit of vegetable oil (Wesson, Mazzola, etc.) to the Woolwax™. Vegetable oil is very compatible with lanolin. 1/3 vegetable oil to 2/3 Woolwax™. The Woolwax™ quart bottles are 6”, so just fill the top 2” with vegetable oil.

I use the 360 flexible wand on the spray gun and get inside all the channels and hard to reach areas, then I use the straight wand for the rest. I do use spray cans of woolwax with small 360 wand for the weep holes in the doors and rocker panels. 5 gallon does my car and truck every 2 years. I also drill 1/2" holes where needed and buy the plastic plugs also. Don't forget to wear a good 3m respirator, Tyvek suit, goggles and gloves and please be careful and safe.

I usually take an air wand with long extension and blast everything first to remove the chunks of rust first. Also blast inside channels to remove mud and rust. Works pretty well.

Ive been using Fluid Film. For the first few years I wired brushed off the loose rust ever time to remove what the fluid film loose then recoated (kindof messy). Years after that I was able to just coat it without wire brushing. My 2003 silverado frame was getting bad when I first bought it but the fluid film has given it a new lease

The key is spraying when our trucks/Jeep's are brand new. Don't understand why most people neglect under the vehicle given how much these cost. Fluid Film has the ability the soak into the steel and won't flake off. Try that product out. 👌

My recommendation would be to switch to fluid film. I tried woolwax for a few years but the problem with it is it doesn’t creep nearly as well. In an ideal world you could interchange the 2 for the best results but in my opinion fluid film is probably better for your scenario.

I had guy that recommend to me Wool Wax as base coat then fluid film on top of it because it's lighter and creeps.

Good tip! I'm sure that would get rid of a lot of the loose debris.

Fluid film has a habit of seeping into the rust flakes causing it to fall off. It really buries itself to the pores.

I'd say that's a good thing, it means it really gets in there. On a rusty vehicle, that shouldn't be a big deal, should be expected
