I find this family's story absolutely fascinating! 👏 Thank you. As a child I loved shopping at Woolworth's 5&10.

I grew up in the 50s and as a child, all of my family and friends shopped at Woodworth in Newark N.J. I remember everyone was sad when we found out that woolworth was closing. This is a excellent history on the woolworth family. I shared it with many childhood friends to watch. We always talked about woolworth as adults when we talked about the past. The woolworth story was amazing and a lesson to be learned by all. Your wealth is your health, love ones, respect, and the simple things in life. Your wealth can't go with you in the grave. Like vultures they will deval your fortune. Blessings to humanity.

Woolworth was Sears before Sears was Walmart. Woolworth ruled the retail landscape, then Sears, and now Walmart. Will Amazon finally surpass Walmart's US sales in the US? Time will tell

Generational wealth never lasts if the younger generation does nothing to sustain it. In most stories like this, it is the earlier generation that came from nothing and worked their fingers to the bone to establish the wealth, but as the funds are passed down from generation to generation, it dissipates due to the younger generation being lazy and thinking that the funds will never dry up. The only good thing that Barbara Hutton's father did for her was to invest the money she had from selling her stock in the company to create a value of $50 million. It was reported that at the time of her death, she had only $3,500 left to her name.
