I watched 4 videos on this blanket and you are the only one to unfold it and show it's true size. Thank you

Thanks for the feedback with my reviews I try and give as much hard data as possible such as size weight and volume so viewers can make good decisions. Some content creators who are being paid by suppliers don't have the freedom to be totally honest regards Mike

I have this blanket on my bed and love wrapping myself in it sitting outside in the cold. Does help a lot to have some sort of wind/wqterproof poncho around it. Sounds like you need what in the US is called a queen size blanket. Some of the bush crafting sites are highly praising the Faribault Mills Frontier blanket. I want to get one of those queen size. But they are expensive. I would think in Australia you could find merino queen size blankets no? Thanks for this clip.

We use the same bed size system here as well, I have looked at some of the USA craft blankets and they look great but with our exchange rate $1 Au gets $67 cents US one is probably not on the radar. I have a couple of Australian made ones from the 1950s all regular double bed size and probably not as thick as new. At the moment I testing using a kids sleeping bag just reaches my armpits and the blanket on top regards Mike

@@kisbushcraftdownunder I suppose if you can't make it work with your head and feet in corners, you could sew on the equivalent to a king or queen size, maybe some on each side so you are mostly getting the thicker blanket close to you. I'll be interested how you work it out. I live in Vermont and have winter camped a lot. You just have to try out different things, as you said in a safe place.

@@kisbushcraftdownunder Yep 9º F. So you can't try new things out now! I completely forgot! I read all the Arthur Upfield novels - love hearing about all the geography and all things Australian. I even have Siri with an Australian accent. You have fun now. I spent some quality time sitting in a chair a couple of times yesterday at 9º. Was using a Swiss Army blanket in the Norwegian army Fjellduk, which is the greatest piece of gear in the world for really cold climes. It was such a pain trying to put that thing on over the bulky blanket - a yt video would have gotten me a million views. So the second time I went out I had on a wool poncho - that was easier.

I have my swag set up with wool blankets. Bought queen sized from the slavos. Cotton sheet as the liner. Really nice and cosy. Not going to be back packing with it :-)

I've been bringing sleeping bags and a wool blanket my last few trips and the comfort is worth the weight too me, I also set up a big polyester tarp over my tent, comfort is worth gold when it's cold and wet and I'm not buying the ultra light ethos at all, camping shouldn't cost thousands of dollars Edit: oh and thanks for the vid, I've been eyeballing this blanket for a couple years At roughly the same size I'd go with ektos or Arcturus buy my pendleton is the best, without super rei member deals I wouldn't have bought it though and I'm reluctant to bring it outside

I have certainly been down the ultralight rabbit hole over my lifetime and done some long distance treks over hard terrain loaded with ten days food. Camping should be affordable and accessible to everyone I hope my content helps people choose well and learn skills that will get them outdoors safely regards Mike

I think a sleeping bag will be more efficient in terms of weight: warmth but a wool blanket adds some versatility and is more bushcrafy. I have the Italian army wool blanket (tan) and the Italian air force wool blanket (sky blue and white). The latter is amazingly soft, 100% wool, thick and very warm. It's not as dense as the tan one, but incrediby warm due to the loft. I recently got an Andean 100% wool blanket (50% Alpaca, 50% merino) off Amazon which rivals the Italian air force blanket in terms of thickness, loft, ans softness, plus it's available in larger sizes. The Italian air force and the Andean wool blankets are super nice, but the Italian one is really gorgeous, IMHO.

Its a long time ago I think the officers blanket was wider and possibly softer than the regular army blanket the one I had was itchy as hell, you are right any sleeping bag wins in the warmth and weight argument.I am beginning to think some content creators are not really using and testing gear its more about the looks regards Mike

Good honest review , I too brought a couple of wool blankets off Amazon Ever one brand made in China found a bit thin smelly and itchy but about $35 bucks what do you expect. So, I brought one of the Scout shop, $60 where the add said made with recycled Aussie wool , blanket arrived and it's made in India. The blankets a little better the china one both are 80% wool and 20 % other. Got given a double Physican brand Australian made wool blanket second hand I think they are from the 1970s or 80s. that is three times better can sleep in a swag in temps down to 0 or low minus by the river Murray River with just a sheet and the wool blanket and tracky dacks on and was quite warm. Some of the survival supply shops like Aussie storm shop and survival supplies Australia along with ST Johns and other first aid and firefighting supply shops do the 95% 5% fire retardant material ones or 100% wool. They are around that $80 Price and up from there.
