my steelseries apex pro tkl is 5 year old now, works flawlessly and got countless upgrades over the time - even snap tap. so the software support side of it was tremendous.

The steelseries software slander is crazy because I use it everyday and I love it. I have the Rival 5 mouse and the Nova Pro Wireless headset and have never had any clunky issues with the software. The only thing I will say is that sometimes the software does need to be active if you want your custom lighting profiles and such but otherwise I use it for clipping, sound/audio management and keybinds/macros for my mouse. It's clipping software is also way easier than something like medal as it lets you edit each individual sound channels for mic, game, and chat so I can mute myself, my friends, or the game altogether in clips as well as change the size when exporting the clips for discord sizing if you don't have nitro. IMO way less clunky than programs like logitech, razer and especially corsair!

Yeah the software itself isn't bad at all the problem with it is that it includes a lot of junk like aim trainer Audio software ex. Some people just want to customize their mouse and that's it, they don't need anything more. If steelseries had an option to only have the mouse engine and all the other stuff would be optional nobody would complain. The clipping software is pretty good doe

@@JakubixIsHere I can attest to it I sold my 80He it is extremly cheap. It sounds okay tho. But the Lekker v2´s arent that great of an improvement over the v1´s in my 60He. It is still a great gamer board. And the Wootöy is by far the best software implementation. But I stil sold mine. Sticking with my 60He. If I buy another it is prbably not wooting unless they Improve the Quality. Not to say that I had to disasemble mine and seat the switches to make them work proper. Since the manufacturer fucked up the pci and I had to reflux them and also reatach the usb-c adapter. With all the buzz around Wooting the customer service didnt reply to me for 2 weeks. But then they were very nice. By then I already solved the issues myself.

Why are the switches on the Steelseries Apex Pro gen 3 keyboards non-hot-swappable? Mechanical switches have pins, which can be soldered to the board. However, iirc, Hall effect switches don't use pins. So why can't they be swapped out on the Apex Pro keyboards?

@PuggyFNes If you want to have higher polling I would reccomend getting wooting 80he or ez63he. The diffrence in polling rate is insignificant my opnion though. The apex v3 pro Has mainly better aucoustics, better switches and more options in the software. If you feel like the apex pro 2019 edition is good enough for you than you should keep it but if you want a better typing expierence and slightly better preformacne go with the v3

SteelSeries on average have good functionality and performance keyboards but is neither the best or worst. Wooting has the best quality keyboards, but the worst in functionality and style. Razer has the best mice, but so-so keyboards. Corsair has the best functionality in keyboards, but so-so mice.

It's caught on by many keyboards in performance like steel series apex pro gen 3, asus falchion ace hfx, etc. and the build quality for plastic isn't outstanding at all, if not it's been called out by many for feeling cheap, the metal version is 300 dollars and scratchable, idk if wooting is in lead of anything anymore in the current keyboard era.

Hi! If you are searching for a quiet gaming keyboard you need to mainly focus on the switches. Usually a mechanical keyboard with silent switches will be really quiet. The quietest keyboard out there rn is prob the varmilo minilo 75% gasket. For a wrist wrest you can easily find one on amazon for less than 20 bucks!

Guys avoid the apex pro, i used to have the apex pro tkl and at some point it broke and was writing different symbols by itself, you can read about this issue happening to lots of people, when i sent it out to the warranty support they said the keeboard had no problems, and i ended up just throwing it in the trash

Avoid steel series at all costs, terrible software, terrible customer service, and the screen is a gimmick which you'll use once and ultimately forget about. Instead do your research, there are better and more affordable boards than both steel series and wooting.

Steelseries has the best keyboards and headsets. The software is has few minor issues but also neccessary because when you use Steelseries Sonar you can't go back, Sonar is game changer.
