I know you must be stoked that you were finally able to drive it w/o the over boost and some of the other gremlins taken car of. It really does sound healthy and congratulations on taking the road less traveled. You are now officially a Padawan Jedi!

Yes, that is your idle problem. That is the idle air motor. The wires go into the same plug as the TPS wires. I can send you the wiring diagram if you like.

I loved my 86 when I bought it at 20 something years old. had an 84 Chrysler Laser before that as well. then I bought a Chrysler Conquest even though I knew it was really a Mitsubishi and not a true Mopar. Amazed at the upgrade in quality and performance I just went all in on JDM cars and never looked back. That being said... I got a little nostalgic looking at this black CS with T-tops.

Thanks for watching! 80’s Chrysler quality was definitely NOT the best 😂

The little line you capped off of the brake booster goes to the fire wall and is used for the vent selector inside. That’s that little lines only purpose. I still have heat and ac in my 85laser!
@TheMoparGarage6 ай бұрын
Thanks man! The heater lines are capped off in this thing and the AC compressor isn’t hooked up, so no climate control on this one! Haha

Hell yeah love the project car and thr series! Had an 88 myself and absolutely loved the thing cant wait to see it in all its glory. Yeah thats most likely your issie with the idle though. Also think you mentioned you ignored the vac kines from the booster but be sure to double check them. Pretty common theyd break or come off from old age. You did 90% of the work might as well go all the way. Cant wait to see the next update 😎

Thanks for following along man! There’s a whole series on my channel with probably 30 videos on this car.

Good the overboost is fixed it's soo annoying. I tried a manual controller on a TBI swapped to Turbo setup and cracked all the pistons so the wastegate direct to vacuum is best for pre tuning safety. For the idle issue U can adjust it manually on the throttle stop. Then u can remove the IAC motor and adjust it manually. Also try blocking EGR vac signal it might be leaking. U can spray carb cleaner to see if idle raises and that's the vac leak. Also check for codes.
@TheMoparGarage6 ай бұрын
Thanks man! Really glad you came through with the tip about hooking the watergate direct to vacuum. Idle issue is pretty much the last problem with this car that isn’t cosmetic. Thanks for your help!
@watzonda2b6 ай бұрын
Austin, what ever you do, don't go flat flooring the car before you sort out the overboost issue....You WILL blow the headgasket again. Install a vacuum line from the manifold directly to the wastegate actuator....You will see maybe 7PSI boost. This will give you safe driving until you can redo all the vacuum lines and check the wastegate solenoid for proper activation. Also mount the vacuum block remotely, meaning Do not attach it with wire ties to the intake manifold..... Why you ask?...because you don't want to create any sound mimicking "KNOCK" that will cause the knock sensor to retard timing. Really can relate to your project here...I hava a GLH Turbo since 1991 and have learned all this stuff by working on it myself. There is alot of attention to detail on these cars that will be rewarding in the driving experience/performance. Love these turbo Dodges.

Make sure you aren't flooring it and shutting it down shortly afterward. Let it idle a gew minutes or you coke the oil. Where in SC are you? I am.in Sumter. Had a 86 Daytona turbo and an 87 Shelby Charger. Ported the intake/exhaust, Dodge Viper fuel injectors, and performance ECU.

Thats not a Shelby. Daytona first Shelby was in 1987, last 1991. They have new vacuum harness still available on ebay for about $50. Keep it stock, so many are butchered up. Those vacuum logs look horrible. I made a complete vacuum harness using high temp oem lines but each line was sleeved with a black high temo fiberglass protector sleeve.

@TheMoparGarage2 ай бұрын
Right, it’s probably a little down on power. But my main concern for this thing is reliability because they’re so poorly built so it’s intentionally detuned a bit.
@Beejay67652 ай бұрын
You should do away with the turbo and put a pro charger on that thing because that thing would be ignorant because people already don’t respect them cars. Everyone thinks they’re slow and they’re really not they’re impressive for a four-cylinder and if you didn’t wanna go with a pro charger, I would put like an 88 millimeter Is a little big but that motor can handle it because I had an 89 Pacifica that we took a motor out of a 91 dodge shadow turbo which was a 2.5 L and we put 2 60 mm but I can’t remember what the brand was. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt to put it in there, but we got them in there and cut holes was kind of shitty but was crazy crazy fast. That thing was a fire breathing machine my buddy had a 1996 supra with a 2jz in it and he had one single 88 mm turbo I didn’t beat him, but he couldn’t get away from me. I wasn’t on his bumper, but I wasn’t 10 cars away from him. I was at least three or four car links behind him.
