Gaara has three moments in Shippūden that really stand out for his character. This flashback, when he talks to Naruto in the snow about Sasuke and his speech to the Allied Shinobi Forces. It’s those 3 moments that cemented his place as my favorite character in Naruto

Why this word from Gaara hits me, "one day kankuro, i'd like to become something precious to others too." No matter how gaara did in the past, i always feel sympathy for him. I mean, he was forced to be the container of a tailed-beast. He grew up without a mother (Karura died because the one-tail was sealed while she is still pregnant with Gaara, resulting on her premature delivery - yes, gaara was premature at birth) and he was hated by every people in his own village.

I finished rewatching OG Naruto the other day and the sadness I felt for Gaara was beyond any other character in any anime. He fell short in the beginning, but with unconditional support and understanding from Naruto, he became the kindest, and one of the most powerful. I wish I could grow into half the man Gaara became.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Naruto and Sasuke actually had a very WEAK bond when you think about it. What did they have in common beyond being orphans? NOT A DAMN THING. Gaara and Naruto though shared the agony of being Jinchuuriki scorned and spat on by their villages. We see the latter at his lowest in Shippuden, fracturing under the combined weight of failing to save Sasuke (a result of the fact that HE DIDN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND Sasuke) and Kurama aggressively straining to break free. Naruto almost surrendered to Kurama a few times too.
