This is incredible! This band needs way more attention. This is exactly the perfect style of drums that I love, perfectly consistent all throughout the song in the beginning chorus is perfect!

Growls/screams actually take a lot of skill, they're also quite risky. In my opinion, the screams/growls add an importance and piece to the works. It shows the songs emotions, tones, settings, etc. Some screams/growls are even like a "don't fuck with me" tone.

As far as this whole Death vs Clean vocal argument goes, the answer is simple: Both have their place, and they can certainly coexist. I will say that limiting yourself to one or the other will cause you to miss out on a TON of awesome music. Because there's plenty of great stuff that utilize both styles. Otherwise, I downloaded WoF's EP back in 08, and I was wondering if they had gotten anything else done recently.... Glad to have found this. Keep up the good work, Alex and Company!

That was a well crafted response; very rare on youtube. ReConstructDe4d did a really good job answering you as well. I just think that if something is in the death metal genre they shouldn't have singing at all so those who "like the contrast" don't have to put up with singing. I should have said any singer I've heard in the death metal genre so you didn't get riled up. I didn't mean to bash your music, I was just saying that this band is perfect as is, and shouldn't change their vocals.

i don't give a shit about how it sounds like... This song is good and i'm gonna thumb it up!
@ReConstructDe4d12 жыл бұрын
Well, be glad you can listen to power metal or melodic heavy metal bands with "real singers", then :) And why would they growl/scream if they, themselves, and their fans wouldn't listen to it? Believe it or not, some of us simply prefer the stark contrast between heavy instruments playing beautiful melodies and harsh vocals singing deep lyrics; something which is rarely seen outside the melodeath genre, which is also what makes it so unique :) To me, the harsh vocals are what makes the song \m/

Great song. I'm sad I didn't find out about you guys until now. You have a typo in your video, however. At 30 seconds in, it says "embarce" instead of "embrace." Hope you kept the original creation files!

To me a perfect combination of heavy and clean instruments and vocals is what makes melodic death metal so special. Look at myGRAIN - Trapped In an Hourglass as an example, this might not have clean vocals but it does sound epic nonetheless.

Just checked out some Malrun and the little bit I've heard sounds good. Thanks for the tip. The only band I can think of off the top of my head to return the favor with is Solution .45 They actually incorporate both styles of singing in their music probably about a 50/50 mix. If you haven't heard them check out the songs "The Close Beyond" & "For Aeons Past" Also check out Adagio "Undead" & "Vamphryi" INCREDIBLE musicians. They also use some death vocals, but not as much as Solution .45

Heh, I often feel the same as you, just the opposite way :) As in, I love the intro to some band, then get really disappointed to hear power/heavy metal vocals only. A recent example for me is Malrun with "Into The Sun" for me (Maybe you should check it ou ;) ). My point is, we can't all have it all :D

I want to hear you do some death vocals because I think it´s harder then singing. Still love clean more, but show respect for the growls and grunts.

Well, maybe it's just you, maybe you don't like death growls. But on the other side, I prefer death growls to clean vocals, and I AM able to see a difference in tone of death growls, and this is what adds more power to the song. Everyone have their own preferences, and I'm not going to call clean vocal singers pussies. The only problem is that you were "bashing in gentleman style on the death vocalists.

Can't help but notice that within this 66vid block (as of 2/28/14 many have been deleted) of Melodic Death Metal, few songs are MDM. A majority of non-deleted vids are power metal, almost symphonic power metal or even glam metal. A little too upbeat imo. I've never liked the keyboard folk cleanness of some MDM. I liked the first foray from Thrash, it was like Thrash .2.0...heavier than Thrash, not spastic like Speed. What bands/genre are more like Slayer and Rotting Christ than Anthrax? I like Anthrax, just an example of what I'm not looking for at the moment.

I did not intend to offend anyone with my original post. I know there are lots of people out there that love the death metal vocals. If there wasn't bands wouldn't be doing it. My original post is just my opinion, but may have come off as a bit harsh because it came from a place of frustraition. I was surfing KZbin for new music and when this video started the music caught my ear which lead to frustraition when the vocals started because I don't care for death vocals. Love the music though

I'm pretty sure everyone stopped considering his comment's a year old.
@chewypc12 жыл бұрын
The reason I don't concider death vocals actual singing is death vocals are usually very mono tone. By that I mean I don't hear them carrying any melody to go with or compliment the music. It is usually all just one note. So in my eyes death vocals may add an artist value to the song that some people like, but I don't think death vocals add any musical value to the song. For me a real singer carries a melody that complemts the music and vise versa. Just my opinion.
@chewypc12 жыл бұрын
The music is great. It deserves a real singer. So many great bands out there ruin their music with this growling death vocals crap. What a pitty.
@chewypc12 жыл бұрын
I never said doing death vocals was easy. I just don't like death vocals and I don't concider it real singing. It's only my opinion, but I think death vocals have ruined lots of great music out there. Obviously people that do like death vocals are not going to agree with me, but I'm just as entitled to my opinion as they are. In my original post I was expressing my frustraition over the death vocals, but it was also a compliment to the great music.
@NoMoreTrolls12 жыл бұрын
It is supremely arrogant of you to think that your opinion is a fact. I'm willing to bet that many people (myself included) strongly disagree with you.
@chewypc12 жыл бұрын
Not sure who you are assuming I like or listen too, but singers like Warrel Dane (Nevermore), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Tom Englund (Evergrey) and Roy Kluh (Kamelot) are not screamers they are great metal singers. Their singing actually enhances the music and vice versa. If this band had a real singer like anyone of them I would have been running out to get the CD. Growling death vocals do nothing to contribute to the music of the song. Wannabe singers that can't sing do death vocals.
@247Deathmetal12 жыл бұрын
Quite the opposite! A lot of good metal bands ruin their beautiful melodies with a tone-deaf shouter that people choose to believe is a good singer; i.e. any singer...
