Words YOU'RE saying wrong (probably) - Silent Syllables in English - English Pronunciation Lesson

In this English pronunciation lesson I'm going to show you 5 words which are very commonly pronounced wrongly by English students because they have a silent syllable.

@@TeacherLuke-DET Do you have videos about natives cancelling(?) or abbreviations pronunciation? For example, [I'm going to] = [I'm gonna] = [I'm on] = [I'm a] 😥 Natives don't say like what's in textbook...

Mary Smith I think you mean contractions (gonna, wanna, hafta, etc). I filmed a lesson on that recently, but I haven't edited it yet. 😀 I will edited it and upload it either next week or in 2 weeks.

In order to improve my pronunciation, I'm used to listening to native English speakers saying the same word or the same sentence over and over and over again, buuuut... "torture" and "torturing" are two words whose pronunciation is really really really difficult. Excellent video!

Thanks Antonio! Yes exactly there are many examples. basically, 3 syllables /ˈbeɪsɪkli/ ; physically, 3 syllables /ˈfɪzɪkli/ ; and desperate can be just 2 syllables /ˈdesprət/. Cheers
