I dropped a year for neet preparation but i completely wasted it by not studying anything and found new friends in the hostel and chilled with them. Now, after the NEET exam 2023 i regret about every minute of the days i wasted and now i don't know where to go and what to do next. Other than mbbs i can't even imagine any other course to study. The story I heard was a bit different, it was about Panini Rishi, his guru told him that the line important for being educated is not not on his palm. When he was passing by the well, he saw the mark made by earthen pots on a rock (where women used to keep the pots) then he got motivated and cut his palm to draw the line (as a symbol that he decides his fate/destiny) and then went back to study... details don't matter though, both are great stories nonetheless..

I was thinking that I already have heard this story but name of Acharya was 'Panini' The part of thirst you said was nothing in that. My master told me that Panini was trying to ran away from his gurukul because he scared of Sanskrit.The mark you talked about was made on rock due to continuous rubbing of soil utensils (mud pot)
