What do you think of this opportunity? Have you considered working in New Zealand?

I have been researching the availability of work in New Zealand for a few years. I have been a Physician Assistant for 25 years and have practiced in various fields of medicine. I was on active duty in the Army for 16 years, spending 5 years in Germany and 2 tours in Iraq. I would love to come to New Zealand and work as a PA!

@@leabailey1610 I know, NZ would be amazing, right! Did you get in touch with the recruiters I listed below the video?

@@TheMedicineCouch I'll have to go back and look them up. I'll reach out to them. I was very impressed with all the information that was in those interviews!

Thank you for this video! I have been a PA in family medicine and urgent care for 7 years in the US and my partner is about to finish nursing school in the Spring. Once he gets some experience as an RN here we are going to look into moving to New Zealand (: such an incredible country!

Amazing video, thank you so much for sharing! I'm currently in my first year of PA school and the thought of having the opportunity to work abroad is so exciting :)

I'm glad you liked it! And yes, it is definitely exciting the opportunities that are starting to open up worldwide for us. Did you watch the video about working at the US Embassies around the world? To me, I think that is one of the best opportunity abroad. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqWcm6Kii7GWnLc. Best wishes to you and your PA journey!

I'm an FNP-BC after nearly 30 yrs of being a critical care nurse. Just started my journey to transition to practice in NZ. Would love additional pointers on recruiters or facilities to work with/not. TY ahead of time.

I’m excited for you! Unfortunately, I do not have any more information to share as I have not even been to New Zealand. I will say, that right now I don’t think there are many recruiters to choose from. The two listed in the description box below the video I think are the main ones working with APP‘s from abroad. I would definitely reach out to both of them. Also, as my guest mentioned, you probably should pay attention to how rural an opportunity is. Perhaps someone with more direct knowledge that is reading this could chime in and give you more information.

I actually reached out to the recruiter. Unfortunately due to the fact I have an Autistic child we cannot immigrate there. New Zealand has strict restrictions on who can immigrate due to the socialized medicine. I even talked with an immigration lawyer who said that they would not write a waiver for Autism.

I’m so sorry to hear that! That’s something that I never even thought about. Certainly highlights one of the downsides of socialized medicine!

My wife and I have traveled to NZ twice now. We are highly interested in a potential move from the states to NZ. Is there a recruitment company you recommend for this process? I am an ERNP and she is a sonographer. Thanks!

I'm jealous! I haven't been able to visit yet and I think living there would be an incredible experience. Did you look in the description box below the video? I have links there to a couple of recruiting companies in NZ. I think they work with other medical professionals, not just PAs & NPs, so I would start with them. Even if they can't help you, I would be willing to bet that they could point you in the right direction!
